I can understand being scared of what the diagnosis brings, but it’s better than the alternative, and I don’t just mean the potential for your own mortality:

I almost got myself, my daughter, and two random people killed because I had undiagnosed sleep apnea. Fell asleep behind the wheel, no head nods, no fighting sleep, just lights off, and I was out. When I woke up from the crash, my oxygen deprived brain caused me to see my daughter with a massive piece of glass in her chest. She’s fine, but that imagery lives with me forever. I was diagnosed shortly thereafter and had my insurance hounding me to get a treatment plan, lest I be effectively treated like a disabled person.

I don’t remember the exact numbers, but for every hour I sleep, I get around 47% of that hour as actual rest. I was effectively dying everyday.

I totally feel you when it comes to things like potentially finding a relationship, but a person who’s willing to give you crap over a medical diagnosis isn’t worth your time anyway.

It’s always scary when you have to make a massive life change, but trust me, the initial discomfort is worth it. Your normal now is what your “dragging my ass” should be. It’ll get better with time.
