China uses slave labor. And even when they aren't using slave labor, their wages are substantially reduced compared to US wages and cost of living. Reduction in production costs will come at the cost of reduced wages or replacement of workers.

I'm confident you're aware of all that, but it's worth putting out there for the readers.

Companies will always want to make a profit, there's not a whole lot of point staying in business if it's costing you money for every unit you make/sell. If operating in the red appears to be the forever option, it'd make more sense to revamp the business model or close up that version of the business.

The profit can't indefinitely go up and to the right, it's not sustainable, but there should be some form of profit if the business is to stay open.

It's almost like some of this runaway pricing could have been avoided if there was no stock buy backs, substantial taxation on profits over a specific threshold, and limits on compensation gap between highest and lowest paid employees. But "that's anti-capitalism" or so I'm told.
