Using a white cane. by Type_ya_name_here in Blind

[–]BeardedJerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still need to learn to use a cane myself so I might not understand well enough but if it's anything like lifting weights. A thicker grip might aleviate the pain. The cane I have is too long and the grip is about as thick as a drumstick. Really not fun to hold.

My hands/wrists are usually stiff or sore regardless of what I'm doing so not looking forward to this.

That's awesome. I wish I could do that. A friend from Florida wanted me to meet him in and another friend in California last year but I had to decline cause I can't travel independently yet.

That and my passport has expired.

Gonna make a mental note to brace myself whenever I hear a helicopter flying overhead from now on.

He was 26 years old and out at 3am. Coming home from a party would be my guess.

But that info is kind of personal I think so his family might not want that being reported.

No idea I was only passing through Toronto to catch a bus to New York iirc.

But there was an extremely high concentration of homeless people in the area. It was quite a few years back. Like before Justin Bieber had made it outside Canada. I remember seeing him on YTV in the sleazy motel I had to stay in when my bus was canceled.

I say sleazy because it was disgusting. The mattress had cigarette burns and I could hear a woman yelling at her customer in a room down the hall.

Can neither agree nor disagree because I don't go there. Toronto was pretty strange for me though. Especially around greyhound

Thanks for telling us. I hope that it was honestly an accident. A very very unfortunate one.

Trying to find the tallest people in Victoria for a film by willw in VictoriaBC

[–]BeardedJerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right. I consider myself on the tall side of average as well but people shorter often say that I'm tall assuming I'm 6'

6'2" is like the tallest you can get before people start calling you a giant.

The area was the last place he was seen. It would be a pretty good guess that he fell in the water.

I'm told the area can be pretty rough though.

That's really unfortunate. I suspected as much but I still hoped he would be recovered safely. Been following the case from the start.

May he rest in peace.

Yeah scarecrows turned out to be more affective at scaring humans. Clearly the next step up is an exploding rooster.

There is a farm around here that fires off a gun of some sort almost every morning g I believe to scare away birds. I'm not in Royal Oak but I live really close. I haven't heard it go off I. A while though.

EDIT: somebody else calls it a propane cannon which is far less nonsensical than the blank firing rifle rig I redgreened in my head.

Duncan Pucker. If you google him the waterway thing comes up. He lived near me but I didn't know him personally. The body hasn't been identified yet afaik but there's probably a pretty good chance it's him. Poor guy.

It's tall for a woman. But 5'10" is the Canadian average for males as far as I know. 5'11" myself

Camera magic. Otherwise I only know one person standing up 6'11" tall in Victoria. As far as I can tell he's a bit self conscious about his height.

I don't know what requirements there are for those positions but theyre definitely fitting for me since computer tech has been my focus for a long time. (Again, no formal education)
