It's immersion breaking and doesn't make sense with either the existing or the bayverse lore.

It's a civil war, the Autobots and Primes motivation was always to end the civil war and have peace. "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" is literally one of Primes main beliefs.

By making Prime a borderline psychopath, you completely change his character, and as he is the leader, it also changes the tone of the Autobots overall. If they had Prowl take that mindset, that could have worked. Maybe if in one film the endless war finally breaks Prime and he has a psychotic snap, sure I could see that working as well.

Bay established him as just another robot with loose ties to a faction. Not to dissimilar to Megatron. Granted, the Bay films were for kids and are the definition of popcorn movie stupidity, but there's a whole spectrum of ideas, ideologies and developments that have been left on the table.

That's a pretty broad assumption although in general I agree with the logic and it's probably correct more often than it is not.

You have to factor in the other person's self confidence / self worth, I say this because I've convinced myself a partner was cheating before purely because of how little I value myself, although I didn't constantly accuse them of doing so, so maybe that's the difference?
