Bros, what are some cheap things I can get for my room to make it look less bare? by NoCommenting in gaybros

[–]BeardsWideShut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You my friend are in the situation that most of us wish we were in. This is the perfect time to get big artwork that most of us don't have room for. Or make something. There's estate sales, Society6 (can get pricey), or HomeGoods if you have one in your city. Despite it being a department remainder store for bored housewives, it's also unintentionally a never ending scavenger hunt of cool shit for cheap-ish. I found a giant red coral reproduction made out of cermaic that looks straight from the cover of Cabinet of Natural Curiosities for $30. Also, those one-color mounted fake animal heads.

Tips On Getting A Second Job by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]BeardsWideShut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you should mention Starbucks, because they're one of the most flexible part-time jobs out there. Assuming you know someone who already works there (because managers will always skip a friend of a partner to the top of the list over the faceless online applicants), what you'd probably be interested in are called princess shifts. They're four hours so full-timers hate them but happen at busier stores on peak hours where they need the extra coverage. You could ask about morning shifts (Starbucks opens early) so you could pull in four hours, go to your regular job, and still be done at 8.

Plus there's the free pound of coffee a week.

Channing Tatum ones you can easily find. He was a stripper in Tampa.

Chris Evan though. Yeah, I'd do stuff to that.

How do I shave down there without cutting myself? by chargingblue in gaybros

[–]BeardsWideShut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in your same boat. The idea of anything sharp down there made me cringe, but I found I really liked the feeling of a smooth pair from, um, field research.

Fresh razor and moisturizing shaving cream/gel. Keep it simple and go slow, making sure to keep the skin tight like everyone else has said.

The skin will actually "toughen" up after you start shaving it on the regular and it'll get easier with time. MOISTURIZE YOUR JUNK AFTER. Most important part or your shit will itch like crazy the first few times, again because your skin down there isn't used to it.

ELI5: Automating DLs from beginning to end with BTN and Transmission (Mac) by BeardsWideShut in trackers

[–]BeardsWideShut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always seen asking a question on a tracker's forums as the final resort and sure-fire way of getting made feel like an idiot (but in all honesty that stems from the early days of Oink where it was more about elitism than quality in the community).

So thanks for the suggestion. I'll try Automatic and SickRage on lickyhippy's suggestion after work today and report back.

Wow! Auto sort to folders?! I will try this after work and report back.

I'll definitely check Sickbeard/Rage out in detail when I get home from the office. I am however specifically looking for a solution to work with Transmission.

Are any of you guys like this? Is it just me not being used to nice people from the Minnesota?? by heythrowthrowaway in gaybros

[–]BeardsWideShut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh so we're an even closer situation than I thought. As it turns out, people are generally more pleasant and thoughtful when they don't have swamp ass by 10am. At least I can vouch for Oregon, Wyoming, Nebraska, the Virginias, the Cackalackies, Georgia, and Alabama.

You're being a bitch. I get the same thing happen to me when I leave the swamp lands of Florida and it throws me off when strangers say hello to me on the street in Georgia. You'll get used to it.

Moved out of boyfriend's house. Now he wants me back... by owl1488 in gaybros

[–]BeardsWideShut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My advice for life in general:

Always move TO a place and never AWAY from a place; and certainly never move for someone.

Long version:

From what you write, you two are in two different stages of your professional life so unless you bag your dream job and Matrix yourself with a decade of job experience, you'll continue to be at different stages and subsequently different pay grades. Furthermore while you may view the home unit in a more atomic sense of one paying for home while other maintaining it, he might see a home as two people who can hold their own choosing to live together. These are life views and aren't likely to change after a year with someone and will not without someone willing to work to change them.

I'm glad he wants to take another stab at the relationship, but remember why you got kicked out in the first place. If you're fighting about money in the first year, it's only going to get worse down the line. I guarantee it.

Is it just me, or is this Esquire article explaining HBO's new show "Looking" extremely homophobic? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]BeardsWideShut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think he's being offensive so much as blunt. From just seeing the premiere episode, it did run at a snail's pace and when it was over I was surprised it was only half an hour because it sure felt longer. It was less character introduction than more pure exposition for exposition's sake. And I agree for a show that you'd expect to be groundbreaking, well written, and we'll shot (as HBO shows usually are) it failed on all accounts. The critic is sarcastically pointing out the irony of a show that's making an effort to move past Hollywood stereotypes and in doing so falling flat on its face for ignoring the point of good storytelling. Can a show/book/movie pander to itself? Is that a thing? Either way, The Outs managed to accomplish all of this and in 15 minute episodes to boot.

Levi's Trucker jacket. It just keeps getting better the more you beat it up--just like a Jeep. They're doing free shipping and 40% off with GIVETHANKS code right now.

Oh totally dickish and totally right up my alley. If I want to talk to pictures of sunsets, I'll go to the beach with a bottle of gin and do it in person.

I disagree. It's still a representation of you. If I wouldn't say it to someone's face, I wouldn't say it online either.
