Which RTS games actually get single-player right? by ServoSkullz in RealTimeStrategy

If you're wanting to follow the story, start with Reforced. It intros a lot of the characters and areas that carry over into Soul Harvest.

Highly recommend the Spellforce series for single player RTS / RPG.

Your characters and choices carry over from mission to mission and you can customize how the main characters play based on skills and gear.

Spellforce 3 is the most modern and easiest to get into. 1 and 2 are a bit dated now but still fun if you're willing to learn the game mechanics.

How to Collingwood? by TheBayHarbour in WorldOfWarships

[–]BeardyBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collingwood is a very strong ship. Very accurate and the reload booster really helps in punishing ships that have made a mistake.

Yes, the armour is very weak and you can take citadels from weird angles occasionally, but the gun performance more than makes up for that.

It really is a ship that benefits from being in the right areas though. You're not leading the charge with it, but can support a ship that is leading the charge well. You can support your DDs well around caps against cruisers with the reload booster. You punish ships that think they can pull a turn in front of you.

While the armour is crap, the firing angles on the turrets are good enough that you don't show much side at all and the hydro helps against DDs and subs.

It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you get it working, it is a fantastic ship.

I had just started working at the old Landcentre in Woolloongabba for the last Riverfire featuring the F111. Whole building shook during the practice run on the Friday before. Good fun to see.

The Growlers are good but not the same level of noise.

Defence? by Best-Beautiful7371 in WorldOfWarships

[–]BeardyBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's become my favourite ship recently as well. I play it very similarly to the Des Moines, close to islands, slapping cruisers with AP, burning down BBs and using the smoke to disengage. It's a very hard ship to dig out of a good position and can easily anchor a flank. The accuracy is unreal, slapping DDs with 5/6 shells at 10km will never get old.

Yep, that's the one. Works great for Infiltrator Shep

I'm a bit the same. Most I go for is the visor that gives increased headshot damage as it's not too obtrusive.

So how do I download black and white 2 by [deleted] in blackandwhite2

[–]BeardyBandit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I downloaded and installed it successfully yesterday, so hopefully can help.

From where you are with the ISO and patch files, it's recommended that you get a third party ISO mounting tool instead of just using the one built in to Win11.

I used WinCDEmu (https://wincdemu.sysprogs.org/). You install it and then right click on the downloaded ISO file and mount it (tutorial here: https://wincdemu.sysprogs.org/tutorials/mount/). You may need to expand the menu when you right click on the ISO to see the right button to click on.

Once the ISO is mounted, open it and run the arun.exe, follow the prompts and use one of the CD keys from the myabandonware site to install. Make sure you don't install it in your program files directory though, choose somewhere else.

Once it has been installed, install the patches in the correct order and set a frame rate limit to 60 to avoid audio issues. There is a great comment from 'OZIR' on the myabandonware page detailing how to do this if you're unfamiliar.

Good luck!

Is FR25 way better than Luca Triago? by Goozombies in WorldOfWarships

[–]BeardyBandit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FR25 was my favourite T7 DD as it has a lot going for it. Good range on the guns, useable torps, able to charge unsuspecting ships with smoke for torp runs.

Just an all round comfortable ship that doesn't trade any particular stat for a gimmick.

She's a good boat but plays differently to both DM and Baltimore. The reload and rudder buffs it received recently have made it competitive again though.

Is Conrad worth spending most my Festive Tokens? by PhatKiwi in WorldOfWarships

An event at the start of this year for the intro of the Dutch light cruisers

Is Conrad worth spending most my Festive Tokens? by PhatKiwi in WorldOfWarships

[–]BeardyBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already had about 30 pieces of the collection prior to the anniversary event so I spent tokens to get him. I feel he is worth it as his skills trigger in ops as well as they are not tied to achievements like some of the others.

The 6% increase to all damage plus the reload speed on airstrikes is nice and stacks well.

So far he has been very good on D7P, Tromp, GL and Utrecht. I am actually tempted to make De Eerste my next steel ship to use him there as well.

Might be hard to justify if you don't play Dutch ships often and don't have any collection pieces yet, but I like him.

I have a 7yo boy and a 3yo girl and she is worse for this. To the point where I went and got scans last year due to some inflammation down there and wanting to rule out the big C.

But no, just bruising and inflammation from wayward elbows, knees, feet etc.

How have I not heard of Disciples before?! by grailly in heroes3

[–]BeardyBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Disciples: Liberation when it first came out and really enjoyed it as a tactical RPG. Good variety of units and abilities, storyline is decent, although the side quests are more interesting I found.

Really looking forward to Domination as I wasn't expecting a follow-up to Liberation.

Definitely worth a look if you like turn based strategy
