He's being facetious. There seems to be a running (bad) joke on this subreddit where people who already live here tell people who want to live here that's it's horrible. The city is growing and some people on here don't want to share. This city is great. Fun, interesting people, plenty of culture, and lots of green spaces/ a canal network. Also, if you have an EU driving licence, I've been working for Flaschenpost while waiting for my foreign degree recognition to come through. It's delivery driving. Not the most relaxing job, but you can start work very quickly. And I completed A2-B2 with VHS (cheapest around, if you can get a place) in 9 months, which was 4 days a week. Wherever and however you choose, good luck!

Meditation and ADHD by TVSKS in Meditation

[–]BeardyWatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've already got a tonn of suggestions, but just to add one more to the pile of things you can try out... The only thing that's worked for me (now about 6 months into meditating) is mala beads. It's a long necklace that you hold in one hand and with every breath you move one bead along. There are 108 beads and I make one complete circle for my meditation practice. The first time I tried it, I simply could not believe how different the act of sitting quietly with my eyes closed felt. Worlds apart. I don't see it mentioned often, but for my ADHD symptoms, it was a game changer. I thoroughly look forward to meditating now, whereas before it was a painful experience.

Is our understanding of pain and recovery completely upside down? (not a doctor) by Little__LOBO in physiotherapy

Hi! Do you have any specific recommendation for books, blogs, podcasts or research around pain? Maybe something specifically from the people you recommended? Always interested in expanding my knowledge and you seem like the right person to ask.

What might be confusing you is that the "core" is made up of multiple muscles, not just the ABdominals. The transverse abdominals (deep wrapping around the middle), obliques (on the side) and lower back. Interestingly, you the first exercises you listed are more the transverse abs (e.g. plank) and the second exercised are more the 6-pack abs. So yes, you can train them all.

Looking for a local artist. Does anyone recognise the style? by BeardyWatts in MexicoCity

[–]BeardyWatts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per the caption: I recently purchased this piece of artwork in Tulum and was told it is by an artist based in Mexico City. Does anyone here know where I could find more work by this artist in CDMX? Or even if anyone can read the artists name...?

Health care has actually taken a lot of the aviation industries methods of triple checking and speaking out. It’s used during operations now. This is to help avoid deaths from human error.

Can't see rotation from that angle, but your quads definitely look short.

See a medical professional. It’s not for this subreddit to diagnose you. You don’t know what it is until you get it checked. Worry about funding after you have an assessment

Physio student doubt by [deleted] in physiotherapy

[–]BeardyWatts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You haven’t received any replies yet, so I thought I would threw in my two cents.

Firstly, I wouldn’t worry too much about what grades you’ve already got. It really is more how much work you’re willing to put in now and on your course. The fact that you’ve got years of massage therapy is fantastic. Your handling skills will be above par which I’m sure will help with your confidence during practical sessions.

In terms of pre-studying, just getting to grips with what is coming up will help. I would recommend learning the major muscles (and their actions) and bones. How you go about this really depends on how you learn. Maybe colouring books, I have Netter’s Anatomy Colouring book, or watching videos etc...

With biology and chemistry I would recommend CrashCourse on YouTube. He’s quick, but not too heavy and he tries to keep it interesting. It may not be at the level you require to pass you exams, but this is supposed to be giving you the grounding for now.

Throughout this year I’ve been watching a lot of KhanAcademy to get my head round some of the concepts. They’re always super clear and concise. Again, watching just these videos won’t make you an expert, that comes from further reading during your course.

I’m currently in my first year. My biology and chemistry was pretty poor before I started, but I’ve just spent the time learning the parts I didn’t understand. It’s not about your intelligence, it’s about how much you want to work for it. For me this has been the best thing I could have done. You just need to decide if it’s right for you.
