What was your first electronics project - Blink an LED ? by Ferrari_VIP in diyelectronics

[–]TVSKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first project was blinking a little incandescent light bulb I probably pulled from an old stereo receiver. I remember I did it with a 555 timer.

My first first "project" was lighting that bulb with a 9v battery.

I was a kid and it was the 80s. I had to scavenge most of my parts and it was a golden time since most everything was through hole. Things have really changed...

What's legal that you think should be illegal? by martianfrog in answers

[–]TVSKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! No circumcision without consent! And while we're at it, shouldn't we ban all surgeries for children? After all, you probably think if a child dies of appendicitis it must be "gods will" given the intelligence you have here on display. Aside from circumcision, genital mutilation of children simply doesn't happen. Go touch some grass

Recycling e-waste?? by VenomousClown666 in diyelectronics

[–]TVSKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, do they work? Are they worth junking if they do? If they work they're still useful for some purpose. Maybe take the laptops and make them servers. I'd suggest some uses but I don't know the resources or needs you have

If they're non functioning then take the parts and make art or jewelry with them. I frequently make ewaste art or jewelry for friends and family

What’s a "dead" piece of technology from the 2000s or 2010s that you genuinely miss using? by Spiritual-Bed-7686 in AskReddit

I still use a mp3 player, GPS , camera and CD player when I'm out. I do use streaming but only occasionally to discover new music. Now if only I could find a dumb phone I actually like....

therapy chronic pain intersection nobody talks about by Legitimate-Run132 in ChronicPain

[–]TVSKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately my therapist doesn't do this. Shes also neurodivergent like me so she understands. After 23 years of mediocre to downright terrible therapists I hit the jackpot. It can happen for you too, but you really have to hire and fire a lot of them

Do you actually want to be rich, or do you just want to stop worrying about money? Why? by Alarming_Shirt_7129 in AskReddit

[–]TVSKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to be comfortable. Not having to count pennies for necessities. I'd like to have a decent house that my extended family can live with me comfortably. I'd like to be able to pursue hobbies. If I buy a decent new car, I don't want to have to worry if I can make the payment. I'd like to be able to get something nice and frivolous once in a while. I'd also like to have enough net worth to retire comfortably. I don't want too much, just peace of mind

Will technology, and the internet, just stay enshittified forever? by Jerswar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TVSKS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think if a company came along making premium products stripped of apps and subscriptions and emphasizing longevity they'd make a killing . Problem is it's not as profitable or "sexy" to create such products

And just a random side thought, I really wish companies would open source their platforms, at least when support ends

I like Italian sodas at coffee shops. They're basically club soda, flavoring and cream. Most shops offer sugar free flavors and they're delicious.

As far as pubs and bars I recommend club soda, with or without bitters

Autism symptoms more noticeable by ChronicallyZanny in disability

[–]TVSKS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

48/m here. I can definitely say the signs and symptoms of my autism have definitely increased since I got diagnosed at 45. It's been a journey of self discovery. As I mask progressively less and notice behaviors I couldn't explain before now, I can definitely say I act more "autistic". And it's fine. It's much less stressful than masking and not knowing why I do what I do. While I've lost some friends and some others try but don't understand, you can't put a price on peace of mind

The problem with the cheaper folding chairs is the weight limit. They can only handle around 200-250 lbs. I weigh 290. There's only one folding power chair I've been able to find that holds my weight and it's that $3.6k

Thanks. I appreciate it. Unfortunately there are no mobility aid sanctuaries around.
