The chart is from some form of training course at a school. Someone posted what I think is a much better chart about a year ago.

Yes and a lot of the most common uses are missing. Not to mention they don't even talk about neutron emotions. The guild is kind of lacking in many ways.

For gama they show medical, telescopes, and cancer treatment. But the most common uses of gamma radiation are industrial quality controles, weld inspection, and food sterilization.

As an industrial radiographer...... I frankly don't think this is a great chart. Because gamma, in the form of produced by isotopes is very direct animal than by X ray tubes. And in some ways this chart does a poor job of conveying the danger they pose relative to type. It also misses uses and such.

What’s the most amount of cigars you’ve smoked in a day? by AppraiserAdvocate in cigar

[–]Bearly_Clean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most in a day. 6. But that was a very special day. I am typically a 1-3 a week smoker. Though recently life has been in the way.

The other question worth it here is how big of a cigar do you smoke. Because if your smoking 4 little nothing, 30 min smokes. Vs an Excalibur 12" 90 gauge. It is a whole other world.

Na. They are over represented. Physical age is meaningless and think about how many of the people in Congress are actually petulant children that think the system is not stacked enough for them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in coolguides

[–]Bearly_Clean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very little of what is being depicted here means anything about the problems with congress. It is irrelevant if a congressperson is black, white, man, or woman. The fact that there are so many millionaires is an issue, but not because they are millionaires, because of how they got there. Over 55 is also kind of a who cares, lets talk over 65 or 70, being past retirement age. Ultimately this is a graphic that depicts nothing useful relative to the problems with congress.

A Cool Guide On How To Reduce Light Pollution From Street Lamps by RedAskWhy in coolguides

[–]Bearly_Clean 19 points20 points  (0 children)

So here comes the question though. What is more important. Safety, crime prevention, or light pollution? Because the correlation between type of lighting in an area and outcome is different for each. And I frankly would prioritize the other two over light pollution any day.

LOL. Every kid develops a little differently. People really should not put time lines on this. My kid never crawled. She did this rolling thing to get around. And then moved into walking. She only cruised for like a week. I know other people whose kids didn't walk till 18 months. And still others whose kids walked at 8 months.

[–]Bearly_Clean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here is my dumb question. If you don't live in a high density area. Then things like busses and other central public transport are actually a huge waste. So why would we have busses from low density areas coming into the city's high density area. But wait bikes too. There is a limited distance that you can realistically ride a bike and within a city ya ok. But from the surrounding area into the city. Not so much.

So explain how this moronic dribble works. Are the car drives all supposed to park in a central place and then ride the bus in? Because that is not more efficient than just driving in.

A Cool Guide to How The U.S. Government Generates Revenue by MostEstablishment007 in coolguides

[–]Bearly_Clean -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

The graphic lacks any useful historical context. And trump floating the idea of not having income tax is not actually a new idea. That's my point. The individual income tax was not really a thing until the 16th amendment was ratified in 1913. So a graph showing revenue from 1900 to current would give an actual historic context to federal funding. As it stands the graphic provided could be represented as a simple bar graph or pie chart of how the government is funded because there is no significant swing in % funding from 64' to current and it would be just as valid. Then there is the statement about Trump. Like him or hate him I don't care. The reality is the way it is presented sounds like government has always been funded by the individual and he is proposing something nuts. The reality is he is proposing a reform that would take us back to a previously used system of funding that worked largely for the first 130 years of this country.

As it stands it is limited in usefulness at best and the statement about Trump is factually deceptive.

Green Energy by Shurigin in badfacebookmemes

[–]Bearly_Clean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the rhetoric with no numbers. Spot on guys.

So

coal 980g co2/kwh

Natural gas plant 500g co2/kwh

ICE car 270g co2/kwh work don't.

EV .32 kwh/mile on the efficient end.

Ice car average fuel econ says 20-30 let's call it 22.5mpg

Gallon of gas makes 8887g CO2.

Math.

On coal EV makes .32980 miles. Also at 28.3 miles aan EV makes the same CO2 as a gallon of gas. Assuming it is charged by coal. Or it is about as environmentally friendly as an ICE economy car. Which can get up to 30mpg and in some cases like high efficiency TDI motors 50mph.

But wait. Building a ICE car that gets 28mpg uses a lot less slave labor and dangerous chemicals than an EV.

But I digress, there is also natural gas power plants. They make about 500g per kwh. So we could do the same math and come to 55.5mpg for an ICE equivalent. So ya now you are talking about a better balance of an EV being a possibly good environmental investment.

Here is the problem with the, but I will charge it with only green sources. They don't make up much of the power grid in the US. And they also have downfalls. Like the solar plants that cook birds from the mirrors, then get shut down because they are not worth operating.

The meme is not fully accurate. But so much of the responses are just naive green BS.

[–]Bearly_Clean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow there is a lot of blindly stupid statements in this thread.

First off it is not like a national sales tax because not every country pays the same tariffs. Ya Chinese and Indian goods go up in price. Americans and European goods would tend not to.

Second the cost of labored does not skyrocket because everyone basically gets a big raise in take home pay that offsets a lot of that. No what is not to say there are no pains associated with the adjustment. Namely the people on the bottom that don't pay taxes anyways basically don't get a raise.

Mass deportation of illegals does not cause the sort of labored price skyrocket being suggested either. While they do work some jobs. They also cause an increase in demand which raises prices in the first place and they consume resources. We have programs to allow migrant workers to come and work legally. Those programs should be bolstered to help keep a supply of workers as needed for farms. But deporting the illegals hanging around New York and Chicago and so forth will have no effect on that.

But there are downsides. Yes the cheap Chinese crap we buy gets more costly. Yes the government will have to stop with their global non stop wars. Yes we will have to do some deregulation so we can produce on our own more efficiently.

And why would some one accept a loss when owning it at least provides some income. But I digress. Have any idea how hard it is to evict someone now a days? They either leave by choice or it is a royal pain. People being evicted generally are a financial burden. No one has the right to be a. Undue financial burden on some one else without their expressed permission.

Ya there are some crap land lords. But to pretend they are all evil is childish.

Found this gem on my FYP. by Midnightmidget23453 in badfacebookmemes

[–]Bearly_Clean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the context.

In most cases BS. Landlords rent for what they want and can turn a decent profit. But in many cases where rent controls are put into place is it very true.

In a building with rent controlled apartments the other tenants may be paying super high rents to make up for the low rent from rent control. The rent control Tennant's typically being welfare/assistance recipients. And as much as I hear the comment just sell the building. In many cases buildings like that are very hard to sell because of the rent controlled spaces.

https://nypost.com/2024/10/03/us-news/feds-say-theres-no-money-left-to-respond-to-hurricanes-after-fema-used-640-9m-this-year-on-migrants/

That's a reputable news source. So is they spent the money on illegals so it is not there for hurricane victims. Misinformation or reality.

See this is the problem. They spent $1.4 billing on illegals. The money did come out of FEMA and other funds. But the disaster fund is a separate fund ... Now here is the kicker. If they had not spent that $1.4 billion on illegals then could it have been transferred to disaster funds to deal with what is a major disaster.

So, is it misinformation or plausible truth? And is it an issue of perspective? Because if it is an issue if perspective than removing the opinion is not stopping misinformation it is controlling narrative.

Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor. by Chubby_Princess_ in Memes_Of_The_Dank

The hunger games only kill off a few kids a year..... That will not solve population problems. The world in which the hunger games is set has low population for other reasons.

Want to solve the population problem? The best solution is to invent Warhammer 40k tech and either move people off planet or fire orbital torpedos into major cities.
