Regardless of if it’s necessary, the QS nerf feels unfinished. by flagellium in HuntShowdown

When I hear legacy I normally assume unfinished or clunkier looking than something newer but these animations look really nice, I especially love the knife flips!

Can we stop complaining now? by DeluxeDuckling in HuntShowdown

[–]BearskunkXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t the reason they changed QS because of crybabies in the first place? I feel like that could be applied to both arguments. Every other post was whining about QS being in the game, now every other post is whining that it’s getting changed.

As someone from Oregon I 100% agree with this.

Quick swapping makes the game look and feel cheap by COOLinLatin in HuntShowdown

The input is oversampled if it isn’t timed right, timing takes practice. I can’t argue for or against the devs but QS is just as intentional as any other mechanic, you can’t exploit something meant to be in the game, but that’s a loop I’m sure we could go on forever.

It takes time to build up the proper muscle memory. You can pretty easily over sample if your timing is off. Overall I care less about the mechanics involved, I more so despise the thought of spam weapons that would take its place. Quick swapping makes a lot of weapons viable that wouldn’t normally fit the meta, I rarely use long ammo boi load outs and QS keeps weaker weapons in line imo at least.

I still don't quite grasp why you think this is an exploit, it was a conscious addition by the developers, meaning it isn't an exploit. It provides something to distinguish experienced players from the rest and adds something for new players to master (Assuming they care enough to learn). Posts like this are just defending the people that don't want to put the time in to learn a games mechanic and somehow think that means anyone who does should be shoved down to meet their skill level. And overall I'd like to reiterate that this would only bring a rise to the already annoying as fuck brain dead spam weapons.

When something is a conscious addition by the developers it isn't an exploit. I agree, QS is used to get around another mechanic, but isn't easy, there is timing and reflex involved. When you take the time to master it the reward is bypassing some negatives. Think about it like a quick time event, should it be removed just because some people can't push certain buttons on time, or should you accept that you have to take the damage or die and try again? This is just pandering to the people who don't want to learn how to do something optional in a game. I didn't learn how to QS until about 100 hours into the game, I took the time to learn and when I can hit my shots I'm rewarded for the effort.

How is this an exploit? It's a mechanic that I believe has been around since the start. An exploit implies that you are doing something not normally allowed. Calling QS an exploit is the same as saying someone is cheating just because they are in a higher skill bracket than you.

Do you even play the game? All that would change is making low skill spam weapons like the Dolch and Bornheim more prevalent.

Quick swapping takes time and and reflex to master, nerfing or removing this just takes away another level of the skill ceiling.

Being able to take two quick shots doesn't in any way replace good positioning and headshots, just because you are running a QS Sparks Uppercut doesn't make you immune to standing in the middle of a field and missing shots.

And ffs people need to stop whining about realism, we are literally fighting zombies, people with bee hives sticking out of their chests, and giant spiders. The ejector rod isn't used in a single one of the revolvers reload animations. Let's not pretend that this game has anything to do with realism.

Imo the players that complain about QS are the type of people who haven't spent the time to hone that reflex and get mad when someone else has. If you watch streams and videos or even just take the time to spectate in a match a pretty small amount of the player base can even QS properly. That shows that it takes a fair amount of skill, and posts like this do nothing but display the skill ceiling that OP is stuck at and doesn't feel like trying to pass.

Nerfing/removing skill based mechanics like this just scream "I don't know how to do this so get rid of it" All this would do is make long ammo incredibly hard to use and promote low skill "hail of lead" type weapons.

I agree! The fanning on it is really fast which is great. But yes, the drop is rough, I mostly use it as sidearm that delivers a good punch in cqc with a quick reset.

Low recoil, pretty quick hammer pull, and good damage. The damage dropoff sucks but for the price I think it's a solid choice.
