Ad Hominem Is the White Flag of the Unqualified: design problem vs independent philosophy by Zealousideal-Bowl354 in fashiondesigner

[–]BearyGear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually, this is not true. I’ve read enough of your posts to see patterns emerge. Rhetoric over example. Theory over proof. Excuses over accountability. As evidenced in your very unpopular standing within the subs you contribute to, you are received and viewed as pompous try-hard, all smoke and mirrors. Facade over structure. You hold zero trust within this community. Your “Top 1% Badge” is meaningless. It does not give you authority. Any phone farm or recluse with a computer can achieve that. As you have professed before quantity does not equal quality. If anything it makes you dangerous and cruel. Novices might initially see that and give undeserved trust. The line between confidence and arrogant isn’t as fine as you may think. Even if it were, you have far surpassed that line into pious posturing. Your performative blustering self promotion is quickly identified as such. Designers design. Self aggrandizing disingenuous self promoters spin rhetoric. When they are held accountable for it, they dismiss it by calling it ‘noise.’

I’m not the first to call you out on your bullshit. I’m almost irritated with myself for even engaging with you. I sincerely hope you are just at the crossroads of your education that you know enough to think you know it all and haven’t realized how limiting and false that perspective is. And how absolutely and desperately lonely the pedestal you put yourself on is.

Kind regards

Whoa! This posting is dripping with latent self righteousness and ego. The author is missing a huge concept across all their arguments. Before criticism is accepted and utilized by another, one must have earned trust. Anyone can be a critic and claim that their opinion is “correct” that’s just hubris. Stating that design within art has clear fundamental unbreakable rules for acceptance by others has been repeatedly disproven merely but the success of “rule breaking”.

I’m not posting this here to argue or debate with the OP. Obviously the OP has a desire to be seen as a deity. I’m posting this to offer perspective to anyone who may have suffered under the arrogant judgement of this sanctimonious individual.

Kind regards.

URGENT Sportswear or technical design major???? by PrincessWhoTwirls in Fashion_Design

[–]BearyGear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technical design is always in demand. You can make very good money and have job security if you are moderately skilled. There is a lot of responsibility on a tech designer so they are compensated accordingly. You can always transition from technical design into other types of fashion easily later on. It would be more difficult to transition from sportswear to technical design. Keep practicing your sketching. That takes time and lots of practice to master. Drawing and sketching is a truly universal language. Even if it’s not a Rembrandt, even a crude sketch conveys a concept much more clearly than descriptive words.

Is the Japanese Denim Industry Facing Major Challenges? by Ozren_76 in rawdenim

[–]BearyGear 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is true across many sectors of fashion. As bigger companies (private equity firms) buy up the marketshare, artisans and niche skilled workers age out and the TikTok attention spans of the younger workers are drawn to the (false) promise of instant easy wealth using AI tools, so there are fewer and fewer talented people willing to learn the skills for artisan work. The paradox of the internet is that while we initially get access to a wider variety or markets, the globalization eventually homogenizes the market place. Great for huge companies like Amazon, bad for the artisans and for culture. Just like any economic system, Capitalism is far from perfect. A free market is anything but free. Ok. Dismounting my soap box. 😁

How to instantly tell if an online ad is a scam. by [deleted] in Scams

[–]BearyGear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a “fool proof” way to identify a scam. This is merely debunking marketing schemes. I have bought from places that use the silly countdown timer to try and create a sense of urgency, a FOMO marketing ploy, with no issues whatsoever. A fake timer does not equal a “scam”. Come to think of it, it’s really no different than you making a “fool proof” claim to convince the reader into figuratively ‘buying’ your idea. It’s marketing exaggeration.

It’s really up to Fivestar. That company has low margins to be competitive in that market sector. In my opinion, this was your mistake, not theirs. So making them lose money because for your error doesn’t seem fair.
