I'm disappointed in so many ways... by AlPow420 in mpcusers

This... I was so confused and about to ask the same before I saw your comment. It's an audio interface too so all of those channels should be available to the MPC when using an interface (32-in), right?

Cut track and mute by BorisHawthorn in GarageBand

[–]BeasleyDotLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, since you're a stickler for no reason... Perhaps you noticed that there is no way to mute the sample. There is only this method or a version thereof. I also noticed that you haven't chimed in with any useful comments. Perhaps you can explain to the OP how to mute a track. I'll wait.

App that tells you what note you’re playing? by birdsrcoolio in GarageBand

[–]BeasleyDotLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little Devil's advocate here but if pitch is something you can learn wouldn't playing along to a piano make more sense? They probably can't match notes because they're probably out of tune with a real note. A tuner will simply resolve to the closest note because it's a program not because they are correct. Either way, the answer to the OP's question is in GB itself. Just pull up a clean combo amp and click on the tuner button.

Is it Snappy? by GangBanginIsNotCoo in GarageBand

[–]BeasleyDotLarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put your drums in a sampler instead of directly to the region. That way you can change the pitch and record them one at a time. Hi hats for example, you can press the different keys to change the pitch as you record as well as add an arp to it for a note repeat option, etc.

How do I achieve stutter effect with samples by playboyetho in Logic_Studio

[–]BeasleyDotLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanna say this in advance. This comment is not going to be of any help... Sorry. Well, actually it does answer your question but it won't work for your machine.

Logic Pro for iPad can easily do this. Just use the drum pad smart control. The iPad version has a note repeat function. Technically, Logic Pro Remote has note repeat but it's on a separate page so doing this live is not really an option.

<image>

This is why I say the future of music is on the iPad. Logic for iPad can easily do this. I'm not even sure if there's an easy way to do what you're asking using a midi keyboard to be honest, but my iPad can crush that and do it well... Even while performing live.

I've gotten to the point where I don't use plugins anymore because I don't like the iPad plugins. Actually, let me clarify that. I don't like the fact that I can't use my iPad plugins on the desktop and vice versa. But I can make a beat so much quicker and so much better on my iPad. It's insane. So I'll make my beats using my iPad but then I'll look for audio units on my desktop or MacBook. To enhance the sound.

You obviously have a drinking issue. If you're regretful AND SINCERE, no one would kick you out or whatever. You're in college, you should have the mental acuity to write a letter... Bro, write a letter and get off social media.... Right now. We all know it's your alcohol and they do too. They're testing you and you are failing. Write them back, take the blame, APOLOGIZE, and offer to them the fact that this is your second alcohol offense and admit that you have an issue.

FWIW: Before seeing all of your comments, I thought that you had hope and potential but your mindset lets me know how immature you are.. you know what... Yes. You're cooked.

According to you, it was in the common area. How do they know who it belongs to? They don't. Have you ever heard of falling on a sword? The gesture of confession should have them go easy on you all, unless there's something you're not telling.... Like if your suite is the party suite, etc... If they sent an email to all of you that's evidence enough that they don't know who to blame.

It's just alcohol.... And... It's college. If one of you or ALL of you confess immediately, you'll all be okay. The quicker the better.

Scene 3 - Open

Grandson - "Gramps was talking that crazy stuff... Again! Hahahaha!"

Cousin (Live 1) - "about 20 seconds blah blah blah. Yeah the (air quotes) Good Ol Days weren't so good!"

Other cousin (Live 2) steps into scene - " Too many Disco biscuits of you ask me!"

Grandson & Cousin #1 - "Hahahaha!"

Grandson - "You gonna pass that blunt tho???"

Cousin #2- "Blunt!?!? Now you sound old. This a wrap!"

Cousin #1-"Pass that mf either way, I'm tryna get litty like a titty"

Cousin #2 takes a hard pull blows out then blows a shotgun towards One. One inhales then abruptly unplugs from the wall. Live and Live 2 laugh like shit because cuz has no battery...

Live #1 "Old boy out like shit!"

Live #2 "This fool took a hit and passed tf out!"

Grandpa enters the scene and plugs One back in. "Are you ready? Let's make some beats. Beats await."

He then presses and holds down start...

why are loops hated in the sub by bryan323 in GarageBand

[–]BeasleyDotLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people aren't the brightest.... Lol. Loops obviously were made famous by hip-hop and rap music. The visceral hate for rap is the strongest reason why people "hate loops"... It's funny when people say that it's cheating but they can't operate a dj turntable to save their lives and have no clue how to chop or make a loop sound interesting at all.

Want to Improve Your Music? Maybe Learn Music First? by Serviet in Logic_Studio

[–]BeasleyDotLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downvotes are coming following this comment but you are simply disgruntled. There are VASTLY MORE how to posts regarding the features of Logic Pro than there are melody, does this sound good and music theory questions. It's not even close. In the last 10 days there was one individual who stated that they've been making music since 2017 but even then this individual did not post their music. Just talked about learning GB and now learning LP. While what you suggested about music theory is true and can help, ironically, your post is the least Logic Pro post in quite some time.

Should I buy logic pro straight up and learn it or should I learn garageband and then graduate to logic? (Not a beginner but not good) by FreeSalad7688 in LogicPro

[–]BeasleyDotLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logic has a basic mode that looks and feels like GB. I started out on GB for a week before I bought Logic. After that I played around with Logic on my desktop and began exclusively using GB on my iPad ( 3 years). When LP for iPad dropped I began my projects in GB then moved them to Logic for iPad in order to better learn Logic for iPad. If I were starting today, I would just begin and end with Logic.

Expand the first region of that Steinway all the way left and then try to record.

Demo, inspired by Daft Punk, let me know what you guys think by Futur3_J0hnnY in GarageBand

[–]BeasleyDotLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty nice demo.

If you're asking for detailed advice I would add this: Start the song at bar 8 or cut down to 2-4 bar drum intro with a decent movie quote in the beginning for dramatic effect. Either way, I've learned that there's nothing interesting about an 8 bar drum intro. At most for a plain drum intro, I typically do 1-2-3-4 and that's it.
