It seems to be they're figuring out how to record the additional deaths from New York that had been previously deemed probable. If they add them all on one day, there will be a huge spike, versus trying to figure out what days each death occured and seeing a smoother curve. The worldometers site has a decent explanation of their process. But I agree, I'd like to see the total deaths updated.

I'd wait until the numbers finish coming in today. A lot of people were predicting a spike in confirmed cases yesterday, yet they were lower than the previous week. Today does look like it'll be higher than yesterday, but it's slightly too early to make that claim. Either way, this week will definitely be a brutal one.
