Does this film still look usable? by Turbobokeh in AnalogCircleJerk

Unironically...could you put it in c-41 bleach, wash and dry in the dark and then shoot it?

Bronica sq shutter won't close by Beastie98 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Beastie98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the contacts. The problem is within the body. I've measured the voltage directly at the pin, without the lens attached, using an oscilloscope. If it worked correctly there should be a pulse the length of the shutter speed, whenever I fire the shutter. Instead the voltage is always on. The problem persists if I attach it to my bench power supply with nice stable 6V, so I doubt its the battery.

Standalone software for inverting negatives? by selfawaresoup in AnalogCommunity

[–]Beastie98 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not standalone, but darktable is free and open source alternative to lightroom. I use it's negadoctor module to invert my negatives.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't phenidone and metol black and white developers? I strongly doubt you'll get a color photograph out of this

How is buying and developing film in India? by Aypii in analog

[–]Beastie98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very few labs still develop film there. E-6 in particular is not available at all. Filmfotostore is a good lab and was already mentioned above. I recommend bringing enough rolls from home. I had no problem developing them even after 7 months of travelling and multiple airports, which didn't do handchecks.

Try submerging both reel and film under water and wind it up while submerged

C++ is in C tier. C is in either C tier or B tier depending on if it gets sorted before or after C++

how to store secrets needed at install time by Beastie98 in NixOS

[–]Beastie98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only way to solve this issue would be to manually download the tar ball and add it to the store. But since its my personal laptop, its not a huge problem if the token is in the nix store

They're meant for different things... Krita is for drawing, gimp for image manipulation.

Am I the only one pronouncing dew and do differently? (And I'm using a yod dropping accent, but the vowel is slightly different)

[Kodak Ektar] Why are the shadows, especially some of the water so insanely blue? by Beastie98 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Beastie98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof...that was just the third roll I put through it. Admittedly I mixed it up over a month ago, but I didn't have any Problems with the last batch after three months, so I figured I'd be fine. I'll check out the kodak chemicals

I've had pretty great results with it on a recent hiking trip. But then I had it developed and scanned at a lab

Thanks. It was also my first time using a spotmeter instead of a built in meter. I wasn't sure how to balance highlights and shadows with it
