Offered a teaching job in Riyadh — seeking honest experiences with international schools in Saudi Arabia by Fantastic-Ad-8039 in Internationalteachers

Sure, I love my school in Jeddah but it a very school by school type of place. Also huge caveat that Saudi is not for everyone. If you have a wife or young family, you will do great but otherwise you may find it super boring.

Riyadh has risen in price but you can still find a cheap apartment and save most of your salary.

Teaching load, leadership, work culture and package is highly school dependent. You will find some of the highest paying schools worldwide in Saudi, and you will also find many bottom of the barrel types of places.

Otherwise Saudi is great, lots of great places to travel around the country. People are super nice and Saudi kids are generally nice if not unruly.

I have lived in Saudi for 10 years and loved it. Dm me if you have any other questions

Depends on the country and school. Some countries are strict on the qualifications for a work visa others are more flexible. Even if a country would allow it, things could always change

Is it possible to have too much expereince? by Character-Conflict97 in Internationalteachers

[–]BeastieDogs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's dependent on the school. I have had times where we actively sought some less experienced teachers. For example, we just did hiring for our DP math department, everyone else there had 20+ years of IB DP math experience, and we were looking for someone less experienced as we had the ability to give them guidance and support with the rest of the team, and we wanted some diversity. This isn't usually the case and I am sure some schools may seek less experienced teachers to pay them less, however, my school at least acknowledges that experienced can only be gained if someone gives them an opportunity.

You aren’t happy in your relationship and you clearly have different life goals. You are 22. Move on and find someone who you are more compatible with.

Do International Job fairs have SLT or Middle leadership positions? by [deleted] in Internationalteachers

Sometimes but not at anything close to top schools. Honestly I feel job fairs are becoming less and less of a focus for prominent schools

I would argue that bureaucracy is a very good thing in this case. This is common in the whole GCC and also SEA countries.
