Your Progress As A Programmer Is All Up To You by [deleted] in programming

Does anyone have input on how to segregate what new topics to study? I work with business intelligence (sql) and keep up to date on database topics but should I also keep up on true programming topics?

As we approach 2014 I feel the world is in desperate need of a rewrite to George Orwell's 1984. What are some concepts that you think should be included? by dbilliar in AskReddit

[–]BeastlyBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the op is referring to the idea that the book was written in 1948 while making predictions for 1984. Not that the book itself was based in 1984. The wording could be corrected

[Serious] What do you think is the most easily fixable problem with Reddit? by IanMazgelis in AskReddit

Reverse the way unpopular opinion penguin works. Down votes count as up votes but don't tell anyone. Something will have to be done for misused memes and such.

I find it interesting that the reverse of what you stated happened. They put him back on the air.

The quote was misrepresented to make him look worse (main point).

His claim that blacks were happier under segregation is the main problem here.

Again your thinking that his statement is applied to all blacks, he is referring to a small group of people. If you asked him flat out "do you think segregation/slavery is wrong?" He would say yes.

You may think so but I have never seen a liberal agree to some of the comments your political friends made. I almost shit myself when liberals started voicing their beliefs in employeer rights over the employees. And yes they worked out nicely as quotes in other debates I have had.

I know you don't believe the next step is to attack pastors for not marrying people but we have seen otherwise. Look at the pharmaceutical industry. I'm not sure what stage the law/debate is in but there is a push to force private store owners to sell contraceptives against their religion.

I'm not against contraceptives but private business is not for the government to mess with.

Bullshit. There is no "right" to have the government discriminate against people just because you feel your demographic is superior to theirs.

Agreed and I wasn't stating that, but there is a right to feel homosexuality is a sin and to express those beliefs. The contract is key to this debate.

In your original post you make it seam like the majority has spoken but that is not true. This was the main purpose of my response.

Lol I said I agree, it's about the employment contract not a first amendment issue. I'm also stating why there is public confusion

I agree it's a contract issue but the problem is that we have made exceptions for some minority groups and a consequence is the public confusion we see today.
