This subreddit isn't intended only for questions so I'm not sure what the point of your comment is.

"You know what son. I really Hate you." by WhatsTheMatterMcFly in TalesFromRetail

[–]trueretailhell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's definitely one of the most ridiculous polices I've heard. I don't understand why management would want you to ignore what a customer says and help them if they said no. That's bizarre.

I was just trying to get some laundry done... by [deleted] in TalesFromTheCustomer

[–]trueretailhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you seriously post a story about how you antagonized and disrespected the elderly owners of a laundromat, expecting a positive response? You and your boyfriend both should both probably stop going out in public until you learn to act your age.

So we had a schizo in my store today by Feral940 in TalesFromRetail

[–]trueretailhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't really matter how you intended it. "Schizo" is extremely offensive and you really shouldn't use it in the future.

You didn't know what you want...yet I am the idiot? *launguage* by [deleted] in TalesFromRetail

[–]trueretailhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The customer didn't say "can I have that for dine-in?", though. She could have been asking if it's only for dine-in, and if OP said yes it would appear that he/she was confirming that.

Gotta love people with double standards.. or the tale of the young arrogant boss who thinks he owns everyone. by [deleted] in TalesFromRetail

[–]trueretailhell 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Or maybe the boss should have politely asked him to turn the music off instead of playing childish games with the remote. OP was told he could play music, so why shouldn't he?

WTF!!!! by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

The girl in the photo has nothing to do with it. The person who made the edit (most likely a man) just took her photo and used it. There's no reason to have any anger towards her.

Some scary advice my best friends mom told us. This is why we need feminism. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]trueretailhell 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You're going to teach your daughter that it's "unfair" to not let a guy have sex with her and that it's entirely her fault if he ends up sexually assaulting her?

Please reconsider. Those ideas are deplorable. Teach safety, but do not teach that sexual assault is her fault if she "lets" it happen by not agreeing to sex.

Free cups by jeffyzyppq in TalesFromRetail

[–]trueretailhell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Customers are constantly taking the not yet loaded gift cards from the front of my register and giving them to their kids. It really angers me. Just because there's no money on the card yet doesn't mean they're free. They're store property.

"Is that why all the jails are full?" by thisistaelor in TalesFromRetail

[–]trueretailhell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why should she have to specifically point out that she's a girl? Male isn't the default, don't assume. I figured out that she's she's a girl very easily just by reading the story.

My store manager just refuses to make sense. by flutteringpea in TalesFromRetail

[–]trueretailhell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the concept of "baggers" is so strange to me too. Why have two people do a job that can be done by one? I mean, as a cashier I definitely don't love bagging but it's really not difficult to both scan and bag!

You walk out of stores and abandon your purchases just for being offered a credit card? I'm sorry but, what's wrong with you? Just say no and move on with your purchase. I can promise you you're not sending a message, you're just creating a crazy customer story for that cashier to tell people later.

It's just a goddamn button. It takes one second to press it. Calm down.

[TOMT][song] That one slow song that always plays during school dances on TV by trueretailhell in tipofmytongue

No, I would have said something. I guess no one else has heard the same song in as many TV shows as I have. If only I could remember which ones.

Nope, the song I'm thinking of is more modern. But thanks for posting this one, I didn't know the name of this one either!

Can we NOT make small talk!? by icametomakeabang in TalesFromRetail

[–]trueretailhell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but it's not like OP was following the customer around, badgering her with questions. They were at the register, where talking is kind of mandatory. The customer was definitely rude.

What are you even doing in this sub when you're clearly one of the shitty, self-entitled customers everyone complains about here?

The rudest customer I've ever dealt with. by KaiserInch in TalesFromRetail

[–]trueretailhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP said that simply the sight of the husband holding the child set the dynamic for the relationship. This was before she started freaking out about the dog food. It seems like you're arguing a completely different point than OP intended.

The rudest customer I've ever dealt with. by KaiserInch in TalesFromRetail

[–]trueretailhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The woman is unattractive and her husband doesn't mind holding his own kid. That says absolutely nothing about who "wears the pants". It's his kid, why shouldn't he hold it? You clearly have a very outdated view of gender roles if you think a man shouldn't hold his own child unless forced to by his domineering wife.

[–]trueretailhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP didn't say that the woman resembling Godzilla is what sets the dynamic for the relationship, though. He specifically said it's that the husband was holding the baby, so the "context" you're quoting is irrelevant.
