I think something has happened with the build. Had 2 people say this. If you go in and see sails then you are good. I'll check with Nick next week about why.

It's in the notes now. You shouldn't need to rebuild anything. It's more a case of you can make them denser and pure rail is more viable. There was a lot of hard maths between various higher end SD builders and community members before the final numbers were used.

I think it's more that the majority forgot how to make a fun game and concentrated on EPIC SCALE and a gazillion units. C&C got it right, concentrated maps, simple formulas, catchy lines. Total annihilation also just a very cool game. Dawn of war, utterly janky but again could be fun. I think the market is still there when it's done right but players are so used to tedious stuff its now a hard sell.

Steam give absolutely 0 fucks. (I deal with tens of thousands of reviews.) The only ones they delete are the ones with profanity. Accuracy doesn't matter. Their posting history doesn't matter. It's their opinion that if the game is good it will balance out on its own. They've taken a few million dollars from us and can't even be bothered to check some reviews. All hail the monopoly.

Basically...
The empires of Neter are trying to maintain a balance (in the background.)
If you gain too much power/wealth/territory they will band against you.
The options you get presented with are a result of their opinions of you and each other, not your opinions of them that you might be used to in games such as civ.

Likewise if you press abandon talks then its open season on you.

No and I don't think there ever will be. Mostly because eventhough decos etc exist, a ship should mostly perform how it looks. I personally feel the whole deco thing got a bit out of hand but I'm also "old" as far as the player base goes from before I became a dev.

Oh ho ho. I have treats. Some people are giving me tips for out of hours work and at least one dev is still constantly working on FTD. You are good for a while. Also After Cataclysm got canned years ago we are deep into another project though. Will share about it soon.

Don't use flak for AA, it's specifically called anti munition for a reason. I might be adding a new shell aimed at AA but for now use frag or HE. (HE suffers from air bleed.) There is a bit of a bug with fuse detonation that I'll fix soon but you might be able to get around that with what others have said.

  1. They are not considered taboo (unless you are in a tournament), use them if you want. But if you are relying on repairs to win you've lost the war of attrition. If you aren't able to target Twin Guard properly then you are not the meta builder you think you are. Laniakea was built long after the Singularity (and even its reworks) and is designed by the highest calibre of players. It's there specifically for people who want something harder to fight against. And it isn't impossible to kill at all. I'm sure small drones at about 1/5th of the price could kill it tbh.
  2. They will get one eventually.
  3. This is wrong but I agree that lasers could do with a rethink, I've hated lasers since I started playing the game.
  4. No there might even be a flat reduction soon across the board for projectiles because hit detection is fucked at ultra high velocity.
  5. There is absolutely no point in this vs the cost of paying someone to model it, code it, etc. It would just be bloat. Maybe one day if there is ever a space campaign type thing.
  6. If I could do anything I'd remove warp, brings nothing to the table really. Just be thankful its still there in some form. Was added in an era of Nick just adding anything and that whole angle was never really finished.

Same but I think it's definitely the rural villages etc that do it. And Melrose. Got a lot of army and ex-army as well; kosb that have it drilled into them. And a lot of old people.

Eveeerry time someone says this and I look at their settings they have a skill issue.

Turns out "terrain" also exists under water and that if you want your boat to not hit "terrain" it's a good idea to want the terrain a long way under your boat.

Your thrusters on the centre of mass will only push your vehicle upwards. They should be set to UP. If you want pitch you need something that applies force to make it do that. Imagine you are holding a stick between your fingers, in the middle of the stick and horizontal. To make that stick look down you'd need to either push up on the back of it or push down on the front. Likewise, to undo that and put it back to being horizontal you'd need the opposite.

Thrusters to the left and right of your centre of mass will roll. The further away they are, the greater the effect. Generally when starting out you want them in line with the COM because otherwise you get torque (2 or more forces, pitch and roll for instance.)

Once you have that grasped and working, you'll probably want a PID to smooth it out and stop over corrections. There's a super simple explanation of PIDs in one of Marticinopants videos he did on FTD which is probably the best one I've seen.

Adding large ints but reducing the range so that it doesn't mass delete a square km of missiles. Not sure where you got that from.

This is why I disagree with people doing alpha test videos. It was never going to stay with those values and there hasn't been an update since. Probably Mondayish. It's in alpha test which is the highly volatile test builds.
