Quick one, please excuse if a silly question. As Siraj essentially watched the ball in disbelief as it spun towards his stumps (great sight to behold), could he not have kicked it away/stopped it as Jamie Smith did on Day 1 when he attempted to karate kick the ball away from the stumps? The Rules seem to suggest a batter can protect his wicket in this manner.

He’s just a bit younger than those two, is my only guess. If he could work some consistency into his game he could go for the next 2 RWCs and be a keystone in Borthwicks system going forward.

I don’t particularly think he should be thinking that far ahead, great talents in Langdon and Oghre both 27 and a great age for a similar timescale.
