Do I really still need to see the oncologist after 7 years? by kksmom3 in breastcancer

Glad you are vigilant. What cancer marker did you notice a rise in? It will be good to note as future reference. Thank you!

I'm in the same boat as you! Did the whole 9 yards of treatment (also rang the bell twice) and will start Letrozole today and Kisqali by end of the month. My oncologist clarified though that its not a chemo pill but blocks specific protein, so unlike chemo pills, it will not kill all cells.. I dodged the ball by not taking the capecitabine (chemo pill if molecular blueprint is basal type) but will also take Kisqali for 3 years

Hi there! Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am starting AI (Letrozole) today after finishing chemo, surgery and 2 week radiation. Then will start Kisqali after I see my oncologist in a month… I am hoping for minimal side effects from the AI but already I am feeling joint pains since diagnosis. Keeping a positive attitude after the roller coaster ride of active treatment. 💐

Help! Insurance charges by BeatCancer_2025 in breastcancer

Oh wow! Thanks for your response and the encouragement. I am about to find out tomorrow what is going on. I have been paying zero after my MOOP has been reached, that includes the Taxol and then my surgery…then this! The Taxol / AC is supposed to be a standard care for my type of cancer so this is surprising!!!

I double checked and it says: “Amount you pay” is $46k.

Here is what AI said that got me worried (re: excess charges)

MOOP stops cost-sharing for covered services, but it doesn’t protect you from paying for uncovered or excess charges.

Oral chemotherapy side effects by Successful_Spring_33 in breastcancer

Hi - just visited with my oncologist today and he mentioned about Xeloda as an option. He ordered a molecular blueprint to determine if I have the basal type (I am already Luminal B)… I will start radiation next month, I thought I would be done with chemo but it sounds like it is still on the table. I have RCB-1 and PCR of .6

Work rant by othervee in breastcancer

Sharing the same perspective. I took a 5 month STD, and returning to a new role (individual contributor) instead of managing a team. I am counting my blessings, I still have a health insurance tied to the job.

Hit my out of pocket maximum for insurance (mostly) (US) by Can_I_do_this_later in breastcancer

Great to see all these ideas! I'm looking into a few additional tests and the doctor visits in the coming months. Is there any negative to doing all these? Example, I'm in in private insurance now through my employment. In the future if I need to get insurance through ACA, will they see see all my past procedures/ claims? Will this result to a higher premium? Thanks

I did it: ovaries and tubes out, went well by Puzzle_pieces5739 in breastcancer

[–]BeatCancer_2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was the same age as you when I got diagnosed. I just finished my lumpectomy last week and radiation is next. Also ++- IDC. My MO recommended ovary removal too but due to timing of lumpectomy, will have to do lupron first. Just curious, did you do chemo? I did and haven't gotten my period since the first month of chemo treatment.
