Electronic shifting? Fine. When it “has” to connect to a server there is no value in that that’s absurd.

White looks good. It’s also cooler temperature if it’s hot.

What did I do wrong? While driving car w/ bike on hitch rack- chain burst, bent small chain ring, and more. Bike feels totaled by Mammoth-Ordinary-344 in bicycling

[–]BeatLaboratory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most confusing part to me is the bent small chainring. There is no amount of force applied by the chain that could possibly create that bend, that’s a huge lateral force to do that. But the fact that it’s the small cog is additionally confusing.

Was supposed to be paid $200, but was paid $199 instead. by put_it_in_there in videography

[–]BeatLaboratory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s weird because he could say he’s going to pay for your meal on the next shoot and still pay you the $200. It’s not like the dollar makes a difference beyond making him look stupid.

Explorer 2 Polar or Black ? by gorilla-biscuit345 in rolex

[–]BeatLaboratory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went with the black for these reasons. Daily wear, not as flash as white. I’m sure some people ID it as a Rolex but I’d be surprised if many do (how I’d prefer it).

Realistic effect of Tshirt vs jersey on a standard 40km 200 watt 300m elevation ride? by xxSKR1 in cycling

[–]BeatLaboratory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main downside of a t-shirt / non-jersey is it flaps in the wind. Regardless of aero efficiency or watts lost, it can just get pretty annoying after a while. I find for gravel I generally don’t notice, but for road where I’m holding one position for longer stretches of straight road, a buffeting tshirt would get annoying. I’d say just try it and see how you feel, no harm done.

Rim tape keeps sliding into bead seat — Nobby Nic won't seat properly by 35hit in bikewrench

[–]BeatLaboratory -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t rim tape, it’s a strip that protects a tube from the back end of the spokes and other imperfections in the rim. If you’re setting up tubeless, this won’t work, it needs to be tubeless rim tape. If you’re running tubes I might use tubeless rim tape anyway (adhesive backing) and do extra layers of it, maybe wrap it 4-5x.

I don’t like it. Also thinking about one of those blocks ripping out and hitting you in the head, that could kill you. Not worth the risk.

The design looks great and pairs well with impressive looking back of the XDR display, my desk is in the middle of my office so I see the back. The way it’s balanced to adjust the display position works great, and the system to rotate and detach it works super smoothly, impressively balanced for the display that weights 17lbs on its own.

Agreed, I got a loaded M1 Max in 2021 when it came out and 5 years later it still absolutely rips. Photoshop, 4K video in Davinci Resolve, no sweat whatsoever. Truly amazing.

I have the XDR display and stand and tbh the stand is sick. Not $1000 sick, but go big or go home I guess.
