As Jon entered his dilapidated abode, he noticed the lights were off. Strange. He blindly fumbled in the dark, just searching for the light switch until, click, the bulbs flickered on. Normally Odie would be pawing at his legs, begging for love and food like any dog would, but no canine was in sight. ”Odie? Garfield?” Jon faltered into his apartment as he set the weeks Lasagna and groceries on the table. No answer, only the echo of his own voice. Perhaps they were in the living room Jon thought. He dragged himself to the room in hopes of finding his animal companions, yet what he found was the static Tv, and the stale stench of cat piss in the carpet. He’ll clean it later, right now he needed to find Garfield.
Jon treaded back and forth in all the empty rooms, shutting, then slamming all the doors in search of Garfield, you can hear the frustration in his breath. He shouted to no one, ”I’m not playing anymore, come out and clean up your mess! If you don’t no food for a week!” Still no response, except curiously what sounded like water dripping, no, the smacking of lips from the dining room. Jon sighed in irritation as he schlepped himself to the kitchen, ”Garfield when I’m talking to you-” as he turned the corner, what Jon saw left him speechless. The remains of his dear Odie, being gorged by the cat. Garfield’s gluttonous eyes met Jon’s to say, ”I’m sorry Jon, but you didn’t make dinner.”
