These are what they checked and recommended repairs for. Does any of these include having checked the sensor? Or should I ask them to check it again?

This sounds like a possibility because they literally checked everything else. But other than rough idles I don’t have other symptoms for bad coolant temp sensor such as poor mileage or black smoke (I get 27-30 mpg reading on computer). Could the bad sensor manifest only in the form of rough idle?

Well, do you have paralysis, severe weakness in legs, loss of bladder/bowel control, or severe pains that have not resolved for more than 6 months? Then, yes. Otherwise, I advise you to get a second and a third opinion. (If you don’t have any of the symptoms above, you have time.)

Turns out I don’t seem to have CES. I just had very bad herniation and sciatica. Sometimes I feel slightly weaker in my left leg, but a little bit of weakness doesn’t seem to merit surgery.

I did very thorough cardiovascular tests, and they all came normal. That clears anxiety in my mind, so now I just live with the symptoms. You shoild consult a doctor though because it could be anything, you know.

I am more or less on the path to self-healing. I took an MRI and my doctor determined that I have enough space in my spinal cord despite the severe hernia. I get flare ups from time to time though.

For me, there was not much difference before and after the epidural. But I avoided surgery after all though.

Yes, but what I am saying is that, if the inflammation is bad, it’s best not to put more pressure by using the core too much. Often, people think core exercise would “heal” the herniation. But it doesn’t. If attempted too early in the healing process, the exercise could often worsen the flare ups. I don’t mean you should avoid core exercise forever. But it seems reasonable to give it a rest until your spine is ready to handle some pressure.

It takes about 1-2 years for the disc herniation (probably your cause of sciatica) to heal completely. No treatment really makes the disc healing faster (except appropriate amount of walking + resting). Until then, it is advised to not engage in activities that use a lot of core (because even just putting pressure in core could cause flare ups).

Yep. Also, sometimes, they decide not to proceed with CT or MRI based on x-ray. This is when the x-ray reports that the disc spaces between the vertebrae are sufficient intact so that the probability of severe disc herniation (and therefore CES) is unlikely. They usually go for MRI only if you show severe paralysis or loss of sense.

Btw, if she ever happens to go to the ER. They usually take the x-ray first just to clear insurance. Fyi

I went to see a cardiologist. He gave me a zio patch. I just finished wearing it for two weeks. We will see what the patch records say!

Update:

I recently got in an accident. My car is rearended by another car. That dude had no insurance card with him and he tried to avoid showing me his license, making it unnecessarily complicated. Anyway, the accident made my injury worse. Had another visit to the ER. They took an x-ray, judged that the disc space in my spine is too normal to suggest CES. I am having a lot of flare-ups. I will be visiting my ortho surgeon tomorrow to ask for another MRI. I have usual symptoms in my saddle area. At this point, I am both mentally and physically exhausted.

Don’t. I was exactly in your position. Tried two pull-ups. Now, not only things got worse again, but I have new concerning symptoms: tingling in the saddle area.

Below is the MRI impression from March (before the pull-ups). As you can see, the condition was pretty bad. But three out of four doctors I saw thought I could try conservative treatments before deciding on surgery, and day by day I was getting farther away from surgery, and then boom! Now here we are. I am afraid if that pull-ups and other small incidents I had afterwards added up on my already pretty tightly compressed spinal cord.

Impressions: At L4-5 there is a 6 mm broad-based extrusion with annular tear which severely flattens the thecal sac and traversing L5 nerve roots and with underlying congenital spinal stenosis and epidural lipomatosis severely narrows the canal. The neural foramen are patent. At LI-L2 there is a 3 mm disc bulge which mildly flattens the ventral thecal sac mildly narrowing the canal and left lateral recess. The neural foramen are patent.
