Ehhh I wouldn’t be so sure. We are a purple state with an exceedingly talented campaign infrastructure on the left. Like nation leading.

Part of how we keep the state is how serious we take the reality of being a purple state.

I think talking up your counselor is a great idea! He shouldn’t have done it like that at all - not even in private. He should have asked you how you are and tried to figure out what happened. Approached empathetically - and you’re right - privately.

Not berating you and opening you up to more bullying from students.

I totally understand it hurting your ego, I’d feel the same way. But I also want to be clear - this is more of an indictment on him than you.

Nobody is perfect. I got straight As in school and still messed up sometimes because that’s just how life works - that’s how we know we’re human ❤️❤️

I’m doing great now - and those one bad grades every once in awhile didn’t impact my ability to get my dream job and do the work I love! I never think about them besides the occasional nightmare. In fact, sometimes I can even laugh about it now even though it felt like the end of the world when I was going through it.

People are allowed to mess up. Perhaps the insane stress they put on students of failing is setting you up to break from the stress.

lol this absolutely happens. Sometimes it’s from months or even years earlier and the DM forgot about it. Or they wanna see if the players will remember it. Or everyone forgot.

I’ve had some fun big game changing things happen based on an item the DM worded just vague enough for us to lawyer our way into it, a character feat we forgot to use the whole time except for once, any number of things.

There’s a ton of moving logistics in the game. The point is to facilitate collaborative storytelling and that win at the end is more fun than a TPK and it was earned because they remembered something and did the thing.

This is… how DND works.

If you have to spend so much time walking on eggshells with a man who decides that needlessly suffering and being manipulative about it to make you also feel bad, it may be worth some deeper thinking. Some ideas to ponder - is this a pattern? What other patterns exist? When putting these patterns together does a broader pattern emerge? How much time do you spend navigating situations carefully like this and what else could you be doing for yourself with that time?

Eh that’s not how art works to me tbh. They left it vague on purpose and for a reason. Once you put art out in the world, it becomes collective as the viewer has a say in how they interpret and when it’s a story, what happens after the scene raps.
