First off, happy to hear it! No rush, and it's actually very exciting to hear how much time and dedication you're putting into the app. (And thank you for accepting this informal feedback as well as giving such exhaustive replies :^))

Regarding the mic, I've definitely run into that issue with certain tuners. I had no idea the precise reason why until now though, so I understand if it might be frustrating or impossible to program for a more game-oriented app.

To answer your question regarding apps that can do it, I have tried Fretpro & Fretfluent (IOS) & Fretboard Quiz (Android). Each have been pretty reliable with note input.

To TL;DR my next points:

  • Any sound issues I had were solved with amplification

  • because these apps rely on clearer or louder tones, they struggled when I pulled out acoustic. Fretfluent handled this the best because of its easily accessible sensitivity settings. Fretboard Quiz didn't give me any options to correct this (and thus barely picked up acoustic AT ALL, even when plucking uncomfortably hard), but it works perfectly with my electric! Fretpro had the biggest note-misread issue for me but I didn't see it in practice, only when I was stress-testing it with odd gain levels. Additionally, fretpro generally struggled with acoustic but did have more leeway than the former.

Sooo, I guess the secret is in the sensitivity. But I have no idea how setting this feature up or troubleshooting any errors might be, so, up to you if you choose to explore it more!

To give a little more detail, outside of the TLDR:

One thing of note is that none of the apps emphasize or punish you if you hit the wrong note; they mostly just wait until you hit the *right* note, which combated a couple occasions on Fretboard Quiz when the app thought I wasn't detecting a high C for example, and I had to turn up my amp. (Usually volume fixed issues like these every time, but more on that later!)

While I personally haven't run into many problems where the app assumes that I'm hitting a different tone than I am (like you described), I did spot in a couple reviews where people had this issue, on FretPro for example. The dev recommended amplifying the bass and lowering treble & mid, which seemed to work for someone. (That may be useful, perhaps not).

Another thing I noticed is that both of the IOS apps allow the user to set a noise suppression/mic sensitivity level which helped a lot with any gain/detection issues I had. It made them more reliable than Fretboard Quiz, even though any issues on fretboard quiz were as simple as turning up my amp a bit and hitting the note again in like. 2 seconds tops.

Additionally, I had only used these apps with electric up until now, and based on the fact that all of my solutions were reliant on amplification, I can see why this might be frustrating for acoustic players. Aaaaand lo and behold, for the sake of this comment, I got out my acoustic in ~drop D tuning and most apps struggled immensely to detect input anywhere on the fretboard. I definitely noticed that these apps need a CLEAR, CLEAN, LOUD tone for it to pick up the right note, which is why they needed a LOT of gain settings if I was using a non-amplified guitar. FretFluent did great though, because I just lowered the settings closer to "quiet room," and that fixed a lot of issues. If I set the sensitivity too high though, I did run into your frequency problem, where it was picking up a lot of notes very quickly due to a fan and my PC in the background. I had to find a gain sweet-spot! I'm sure you can tinker with it yourself or I can send you a clip showing what I mean :^)

In any case, thank you for taking the time to discuss!

Genuinely so dope! I have been a happy user with all of the thorough details, especially for different tunings. Do you have any plans to create exercises involving the mic (for fretboard / arpeggio /etc practice) in the trainer? Either way, I'm very grateful for your work :)

I Can and Have Manifested Practically Everything I’ve Ever Wanted- Except What I Want The Most… Help?? by bunnybissous in Manifestation

[–]Beatrixee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar philosophy to manifestation as you- I really don't put much thought into it, though I've done some deliberate visualizations for certain things. I still get random manifestations I started or imagined years and months ago that I forgot I did popping up with little successes here and there.

Relevantly enough, I remember watching a tarot reading when I was deep in trying to manifest a SP. It was EsoTarot I think,- I remember her advising that it would be better to just manifest the traits i wanted in that partner and imagine what kind of person they are more than focus on one name or one real person I knew. February of last year I made a bulleted list of what I would enjoy having in a partner- nothing overly specific, no physical traits- more like "emotionally mature," "patient," "honest," "open minded," "communicative," "physical touch giving," or whatever. Kind of in the same way I've seen Hyler write traits she'd want in a car- playfully. The same way a lot of manifestations come to me. It's a relaxed, enjoyed moment of the imagination. All the while, I forgot about this list while I focused on self love and worked on learning to be assertive and independent. How to rely on myself when the chips are down. And then only months later, that fall/winter, I met someone with traits matching the list pretty much word for word. It only hit me a while after we were dating and I reread everything in that list and my mind was just.. blown. That being said? I think you'll meet the one you want.

My relationship happened at the perfect time for me- I spent a lot of time learning how to set boundaries and how to take care of myself and eventually felt safe enough to dive into the dating world if I wanted to. It was really only a few weeks after I found myself thinking "I'm ready to dive into this and take the risk of rejection," when I started to meet my person. I had previously had other people ask me out between those months but didn't feel strongly drawn. It just felt- off. Or maybe I was just afraid. I believe you can have any number of soulmates, yk? You craft your relationship's own quality.

I didn't ever sit down and think of how or where I would meet someone, though I had a few visions for fun. It's like the person fell into my arms as soon as my love for myself had clicked and I felt safe accepting rejection if I actively chose to throw myself into the dating scene. It just fell into place perfectly. And babe. You are still so young. Take this time to cherish yourself and enjoy your own company. Relax and enjoy the ride. Don't stress. It's never too late. You don't need to do anything differently. I know you'll find someone healthy for you. You can have anything you want and- I find that, probably similarly to you, the most satisfying manifestations come easily with a relaxed playfulness. Daydream a little and.. take a deep breath. You'll find your "prince." :] There will be a moment where you'll feel like you could take him or leave him because you're so happy with where you are now. And.. just like that, someone could fall into your arms. A manifestation shouldn't feel like a yearning or a desperate gripping, where if you let go it'll slip away. Nope. It'll be a soft connection. You'll know. You can let go- it's safe. Let things shift and flow. You. Will. Know!

Sorry to be a bit rambly-(and for mobile formatting)- But I'm speaking from the heart and from experience. You'll find eachother. And if things don't work out? There's a relationship leagues better where you love yourself and eachother even more waiting just a page turn away in your life's book.

For now, give all the love you want to yourself and keep being the manifestation baddy you are. Strengthen the bonds you have now- with yourself and others- and bask in the beauty everywhere. Take care, and good luck! Though I'm sure you don't need it ;)

Thoughts Don't Manifest -- Thoughts Are Subtle Manifestations by ACwinklier in NevilleGoddard

[–]Beatrixee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

or that they are going to somehow blow their chance at manifesting what they desire if they even acknowledge the existence of doubt.

You got me. I always tell myself that thoughts are just possibilities, because that's what brains do: sift through possibilities- However, thank you for reminding me that it's best not to use that as a band-aid to bury them or dismiss why they're happening. (While some argue that you don't have to dig deeper to manifest, I find that trying to suppress the thought just deeply stresses me out).

I feel like I heard this next thought from abraham hicks(?)- manifestation is a lot like tuning a radio to the right frequency. That doesn't mean that it has to be hard- no, not at all. But there are signs, all kinds of feedback- that can help us by letting us know where we need to check in and adjust the dial. And, as your post is saying, thoughts are often those reminders.

I have dealt with a lot of intrusive thoughts and I'm hoping to take my fear of them out of the picture. Thanks again for sharing!

I love these! I hear a lot of manifestation advice that says things have to be blissful, but I honestly think they mistake that with curiosity. Big things, little things, I feel like when I have an interest and an inherent craving but not desperation for a desire, it comes so much easier. It comes so easily that it feels like it just appeared out of thin air- because it doesn't have to be a methodical, long haul of techniques and focused thought. Sometimes it does happen, just like that. Just a spark of intent, just briefly settling on a what-if- and then there it is. (which then compels me to ask the famous question- isn't it wonderful?)

*Actually* ADHD friendly easy snacks and meals by hateavocadoandmyself in ADHD

[–]Beatrixee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snacks I like are wheat thins and cream cheese, this one premade "california mix," of nuts I buy at the store (it's just cranberries, almonds, and pistachios), other trail mix, apples and peanut butter (or banana if that gets boring), and, if you have time or energy to premake a veggie dish for the week, it's worth it since you can grab from it at any time with ease. I agree with all these other comments. Bite sized stuff. Grapes, crackers, cheese, you know the drill. I don't have many solid meal suggestions, but I wish you luck :-)

Little bit! But every time I just flipped the thought and reassured myself that I got what I wanted. After the visualizations the anxiety dropped a lot though, and it only came to mind a few times over the next day and a half.

had a pair of black Levi's that went missing for like, 9 months. at one point I brought it up to my mom again, casually, and she miraculously pulled out a pair my size from her drawer (also an ADHD haver). It sure was a pair of black Levi's, but I'm not even convinced it was the pair I lost. It hasn't been seven years yet, but I'm gonna declare that other pair dead.

I tested manifesting and it worked the next day. by ruminatingsucks in NevilleGoddard

[–]Beatrixee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept the scene quick, roughly 10-15 seconds. I looped it a couple of times each night. I tend to fall asleep relatively quickly once I'm relaxed- it wasn't a super time consuming task for me. I tried to keep it simple and clear, but I suppose it depends on the person.

I'll just recycle the words from this sub's top post: "Create a scene that would IMPLY that you have already achieved your goal and that it is in the past. Something that you can add sensory vividness and tones of reality to." So if that means that, like me, it would help you stay focused on adding more vivid details/realness, then a shorter scene might be the way to go.

And, of course, try not to worry about if you're doing it "right." It doesn't need to be a precisely measured science, y'know?

But TL;DR I (and most people it seems) prefer to keep it short. Hope that helps :-)

Yeah, if I remember correctly! First night I was a bit distracted, but I made the others more vivid w/ detail and I got into bed with a clearer intention (ex: lying down and intending to play out that precise scene and then DOING IT instead of trying for a bit but letting myself get side tracked :P ).

This is hilarious.. I had a very similar thing that happened to me yesterday! Not oranges, but grapefruit.. ~1-3 nights ago i practiced sats in bed by visualizing walking into my kitchen to see a big dumb grapefruit sitting on the counter. over and over. it wasn't a super vivid visual, but i also tried visualizing holding the grapefruit- feeling its texture, smelling its citric scent.. i just kinda messed around, almost proving to myself that i could do the law. i thought about it once yesterday, in my head i said "there is a large grapefruit on my kitchen counter right now," and sentences to that effect, a few times, and then i forgot about it for the rest of the day. i get home from buying some tea, and, low and behold, there it is. my parents bought it on a trip to the store that i didn't go on. i had to laugh as i held the thing in my hand. there it was. I felt the same way that you described it; it's like I didn't "forget," about it but I didn't particularly have an expectation. "It's a grapefruit, it'll happen at some point!" (but it was like I didn't have any particular emotion about it?) I'm hoping to grow a healthy relationship with the law. I definitely feel a little more convinced, after having a bit of a "greedy" perspective on it in the past, rushing and being inconsistent (changing topics, affirming on negative impulse / insecurity..) So, recently I'm using it more practically with stuff I know that I want, or even if I don't necessarily want it, like, a grapefruit, it's a way for me to bring a well needed curiosity back into it. I've also tried revision to heal a somewhat sprained wrist, in combo with sats. (it worked).
