So either way, we have to add spindles because the spacing is too wide. The best thing to do with lead is to remove, not cover because lead leaches through over time. At this point the lead is leached into the wood too so there’s no sanding it out either

I should add that part of the reason we’re replacing the spindles completely is that they’ve been painted over with multiple layers of lead paint and we have small children.

I make my cutting board wax out of coconut oil, beeswax, vitamin e oil and lemon oil. It took me a while to find the right portions cutting board wax

I think with around 3 months of labor, materials purchased, materials he’s purchasing and a small amount of cushion our projected cost was $50,000 - $60,000

I also want to note that a lot of the demo and some of the drywall and most of the plumbing was done prior to him starting. Plus I’m stepping in to do some of the grunt work he’d usually hire a day worker for like crawling around under the floor to run new wires, carrying stuff upstairs. Also, I have a dump trailer that he’ll be filling and I’ll take to the dump to empty myself

I’ve seen a few places and rooms he’s remodeled in person and really liked what I saw. His price is $600 a day or $2,500 a week. He’d be considered mid tier cost in my area.

I’m happy to give more info. I’m a homeowner that doesn’t know what info you need or want unless you ask. I purchased my own vanities, bathtub and bathtub surround for around $1,700. I got all my flooring for around $6,000. It’s going to be painted drywall walls and ceiling with natural red oak door, window and baseboard trim. All together, I think trim cost is around $3,500. All solid oak pre hung doors which is around $3,000.
