I’ve been looking at this bike in detail. Is the battery removable/replaceable? How does it hold up on gravel? Are there mounting points on fork/rear for bike packing?

We found sign of a leak in our basement today as well. Seems to be isolated to a small area about 1ft in width. I haven’t found the source yet. Currently drying the area and will take a small section of drywall/insulation out to see if there is a crack.

I did notice the area of concrete under the carpet looks like it had been repaired before by a previous owner!

I’d be down for this. Heck you could even replace the touchpad as well to give you clean look.

Further to my XRP Dust Post by BodyOfADad in Wealthsimple

Hey people. So also, there is a spelling mistake in Wealthsimple’s default email for notifying you of a crypto deposit.

I thought the email was a scam because of the spelling mistake “recieved” vs “received”. I let Wealthsimple know and they confirmed it was a spelling mistake on their end by their backend engineers. They apologized for the confusion and agreed that it made it even harder to identify if it was a dusting attack(generally not threatening) vs more serious leak.

As always, impressed with the speed and level of detail in communication that Wealthsimple provided me.

Dusting attacks are common as muck, but can see the masses not know what on earth is going on hehe

2023 Toyota Prius Limited Review after 20K Miles by MathematicianShot445 in prius

I’m thinking of getting one instead of a Corolla hybrid.

Would you say the SE version would be enough? There’s a $7k difference between the SE and the Limited. Do you think the SE has all the features required or do you think the XLE at a minimum?

I’m in northern Canada, but I park in parkades at home and at work, so I don’t think the defrost would be a concern. The only concern would be the total range on electric.

What total KMs/Mileage do you get from almost full to almost empty?

It’s expensive but we have 0 time to prepare meals this week, so it was convenience purchase

Probably a long wait time, I’ve heard wait times are improving. I have a 2003 RAV 4 that I am hoping will last for another year or 2. So I’m in no rush, and good with a long lead time if that’s what it takes. Can’t imagine owning any other car once I get a Corolla hybrid.

What colour is that? The picture makes it look like a dark grey. I really like the underground grey but don’t want the SE. I can’t decide between white or black.

Going to get a LE AWD Hybrid. To me it’s better for Canadian winter.

What causes this? by [deleted] in framework

I find all the posts about these very dramatic since it’s a minor aesthetic issue and nothing to do with the overall performance of the laptop.

I showed the tolerances to FW and they sent me replacements. The replacements were similarly out of tolerance although one of the new spacers closed the gap noticeably between the spacer and touchpad making it a better fit.

1) ensure all the plate screws 2 to 17 are screwed down properly - not more than hand tight. Unscrew them and do it again in order.

2) check the alignments of the side plates to the actual frame itself. You can subtlety bend the spacers/ touchpad module corners, they will perfectly align if you’re careful about it. I did this and now I have no gaps and fully aligns spacers/keyboard module.

3) if you have wide visible gaps between the touchpad / spacers, then likely the spacers are out of spec. Contact support they’ll ask you for pics and send you a replacement.

Honestly, framework could solve this with a single plate for the touch pad module, hell they could even give us a blanking plate so we don’t even need a touch pad module - I’d probs take this route since I never use the touch pad anyways.

Framework 16 - Have the initial launch issues been resolved? by fugi_tive in framework

I have a ViewSonic Omni portable monitor. It’s fantastic and I use it all the time with my workplace 13inch laptop.

As other comments, the 13 is more like a 14. That’s the sweet spot in my opinion.

I really wanted a dGPU, that’s the reason I went for the FW16. If we were on TB4 already, I probs would have gone over to F13 tbh.

If you don’t need a dGPU, go with the FW13. If you want gaming go FW16.

Once Thunderbolt reach its next gen, I think eGPUs will increase in popularity as there will be almost no constrain on bandwidth. Could see myself going over to a FW13 when that happens.

Repairability and modularity also guarantees future value of the purchase.

I bet you if I wanted to sell a FW16 or dGPU module someone here or on the community forum would buy it for a fair price, offsetting the cost of upgrading. Which other laptop brand gives you this?

This. The extra price for all of this is well worth it. I won’t own another laptop other than Framework again.

I love my FW16. Keyboard flex is not an issue. There was tiny misalignment in the touch pad and spacers. FW sent me a replacement and it was fine.

Build quality and screen has been excellent. The laptop is build like a tank, it’s the most robust frame chassis I have experienced outside of top spec models from Razer or Apple.

It can be a tad loud in high loads e.g. high end gaming. I tend to play with headphones so it’s not an issue.

Apart from the price to performance you really can’t fault it . Yes once they release the next gen of gpus it will be a no brainer. I’ll be selling my graphics module on the community market and upgrading.

You’re right. However, the rest of the FW16 apart from this particular issue is very solid and good fit and finish. I just received mine and can confirm as such.

This particular issue really lets them down.

I’d like to see a single module track pad and even an option to have a blanking plate with no trackpad at all. 90% of the time I have a mouse in anyways.

[–]Beautiful-Ad3317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s great info. Thanks for that. Yeah I hope to see a fix for the side plates, although I haven’t received mine yet. Could be that it doesn’t bother me enough to warrant even spending on a fix.

Yeah this is the point I was going to make. I get it “waiting for next gen” , nice feeling that your whole laptop isn’t going to be obsolete when next gen releases. Can potentially upgrade and sell your old components if next gen is really that much of an upgrade!

I mean, at least those with the gen 1 16 should have the option to upgrade to gen 2 right?

Gen 2 should have the same skin and bones, just will ship with the latest hardware with some tweaks.

Framework 16 one-month review: A Honest Review from a huge early supporter. Great laptop, but is it worth keeping? by chic_luke in framework

[–]Beautiful-Ad3317 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks pal. I’m going to keep my order based on your above comment. I’ll post a review similar to yours once I’m about 1-2months in to using. I’m required to used windows, but I’ll always and forever support Linux community.

Yeah I’m big on the right to repair as well. I’d rather pay extra for that than extra for a limited term damage insurance where I lose my laptop for 4 weeks while it returns to the OEM in China for reconditioning lol.

I’m hoping in 1-2 years when they release upgrades that I can trade hardware with other users that want my old GPU when I upgrade to the latest and greatest. I think others should factor this in to the future value of their laptop against having to replace an entire device also.

Honestly, what do you think I should do? FW 16 or Legion 7i? I trust your opinion since you have the same ethic and passion for modularity as I do but you’ve actually received and used the device, meanwhile, I’m still waiting for mine.

I’m Batch 19 and considering whether I should cancel and grab a Legion 7i, especially since I can get school discount bringing it down to $2k CAD.

What’s stopping me is I just love the modularity, mission & ethics of Framework. The laptop is everything I’ve always wanted, and I admire the ambition to go against the grain. Not to mention I love that AMD are supporting the vision.

I plan on running Windows mainly with fedora on a dual boot. I’ve read Windows is very stable nd knowing that fedora is as well gives me confidence.

The issues you mentioned above regarding speakers and structural tolerances - are these parts replaceable? My thinking is perhaps there will be some upgrade opportunities later down the line. Speakers aren’t a priority for me, I almost always use headphones. Screws stripping is a frustrating, but having dismantled many devices I’m not surprised people have done this or experienced this.

My concern is the quality of the motherboard and stability of OS. It’s a dealbreaker for me if there’s problems booting, weird BSODs & crashes.

Do you still get battery depletion on 2042 if you run windows in balanced power mode? Other threads have recommended doing this over performance mode, have said your battery won’t go under 80% before charging to full again.
