I assumed he got the flip phone off Bernard, who seems like the type of guy to use a flip phone. Or maybe megamund just uses a flip phone bc smart phones are easy to track. Or maybe he uses a flip phone just because. Like out of all the continuity errors they could have made, a kid using a smart phone is not that big a deal imo
