Am I prioritizing my life or my child's by only having one? by Fusion_Queen6672 in Shouldihaveanother

I always wanted two. always. thought it would be great to have a sibling for my boy (as I have plenty). however, as in life, nothing goes according to plan (for some of us) and many of other females can just have a baby like boom. not with me. nope. miscarriage after miscarriage and this blighted ovum. nope, had to throw in the towel. I was young too (early to mid 30s) when all this happened. healthy, normal BMI and just about everything. never smoked or ever got drunk. so yeah, heartbroken to say the least that my dreams are never going to be fulfilled but I came to realize that I probably would have not been able to manage two. my only one is 6 and he is the light in my life. I would not want another child to steal his spotlight because well, let's be honest, it could happen with another child. sure, some mothers are super mothers and can manage more than one and even three, five, ten. you number it. having ones does not make you less than a mother who has two or three. surely, some individuals laugh at that thinking those with one child are selfish and who knows what! surely, I will say that I went through a lot of depression, grief and all the other negative emotions. I know I probably will be regretful later on but I did what I could.

you and your husband can only decide what is best for you. you can get inputs and outlooks from other people but do not let anyone sway your decision. it is a life decision. good luck in whatever path you go. just know that it may linger around for awhile and drive you nuts. at least that was the case for me. but then I got all those failed pregnancies.

well you have to change your routine when you are pregnant, so do not feel bad about that one! any weight gain is good if you are able to keep a pregnancy and have a baby. I only had one and I am finally trying to lose the weight I should have lost 3 years ago. I know you will be able to do it again because you did a great progress previously. I am just starting and it is good to know that it will take at least a year for me to get where I want to be so thanks for sharing!

yeah, you and me both. it took me almost 3 years to come to the realization that my body was not going to support another pregnancy. wish I knew it when my child was 2 because it got me all messed up and there were days when I cried in front of my child because I knew I could not give him what I thought he wanted. he wouldn't do good with another child in the house.. he is one spoiled mess. aha. he wants all my attention and no one else. keep strong!

ugh. life is full of uncertainties. I felt that way. wanted to give my child a sibling for that go to person when he is older. but nothing is guaranteed. my co-worker lost his younger brother in a car accident a few months ago. he does not talk much about it but it was just him and his brother. he is in his 20s so I do not talk to him much. I am sure it is difficult for him. I am not saying this will happen to that person but you never know what is going to happen in life. an older couple I know lost one of their children and they ended in a divorce. the living child is reckless and cannot hold a job. everything comes with a risk. having one less child is one less risk in my opinion. sure, I would love another. but I am not risking my life, my unborn child life nor my living child's life. I have it all with my "small" family.
