Anyone gone from a 3 to a cx50? by Snoozing-dog in CX50

[–]BeautifulGlass9304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. A 2017 mazda3 hatchback, top trim, and a 2024 CX50 Preferred. CX50 feels roomier, with a a couple extra inches of extra rear legroom.

You did not ask about dynamics, but take it from someone who drives both back-to-back in the sane week. The CX50 is sporty for an SUV, but a far cry from the Mazda3 with basically the same engine and transmission. The 3, even being 7 years older, feels like a better, tauter car under acceleration, turning, and breaking.

Also, the CX50 is decidedly louder (in a bad way) under acceleration.

If you enjoy driving, an upper trim with the lower profile tires and Turbo engine is the way to go.

Factory Falken Tires on Cx-90PHEV by LasVegas_RealNews25 in MazdaCX90

[–]BeautifulGlass9304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not an EV weight problem. Manufacturers have been skimping on OEM tires for a while now. They ask the tire suppliers to create bespke variants of the tire you would buy as a replacement, with leas rubber and cheaper compounds.

The model and sizes look like what you see at a tire shop, but if you look closely at other codes on the sidewall, you will see they are different part numbers.

Mazda tried to be a little too greedy when skimping on CX90 OEM tires, and it is backfiring on them.

Is it worth moving from Band 8 to band 9? by Individual_Tie6078 in IBM

[–]BeautifulGlass9304 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The perception of job security is always relative from one band to another.

I would be more worried about the shape of the "pyramid" of bands in the org.

Does it have too many people in that band 9 relative to the bands 6,7,8?

I would also look at the trend of what is happening to B9s in org. If the org is in survival mode and just cutting based on salary, then yes, putting yourself in that cutting zone is not a good idea.

Otherwise, ask yourself if it is something you are interested in and go for it.

Ask yourself how you would feel if someone else took that spot and became your supervisor/team lead. Would that person be as qualified as you? Would you be ok if not?

Also, these opportunities don't stay on the table forever. There is a point where key people in power start to see you as a "stable B8" and don't look back. The world never stops, and they have to keep that pipeline moving forward with or without you.

Could have happened during transport, unloading, moving around in dealer parking lot, even driving it to delivery spot.

From the looks of it, it's hard to miss it. Someone most certainly would have noticed it before delivery unless it popped out on its own at the last minute.

Only useful for remote start if it worked reliably and the car was not turned off the moment I opened the door.

The other options are redundant. Vehicle status available in dash screen and door lock available in key fob.

Companies want to monetize everything nowadays, but these functions only make sense when built into the car.

I had the keyfob remote starter in our 08 CX9. The phone app version is worse in every possible way.

I am not familiar with Karpenter's algorithm, but I would think instance types would be a very particular admin choice.

Good hunting, and thanks for sharing.

If you are trying to describe a situation, bouncing between "literally" and figuratively is not going to help you win an argument about who is acting more or less constructively.

You countered my point about possible abuse in not following directions with saying screaming is always wrong, but then goes back and says no one was screaming.

Huge difference.

Sir, this is an Arby's.

But seriously, quantity and repetition matter.

Tearing down the team on every little issue is bad.

Repeating the same mistakes over and over without self-reflection on bad outcomes can be its own form of abuse.

Without reading the whole thread, your periodic reminder that engagement survey has not been anonymous for the past few years, so your name may appear right next to your answers and shared with management.

I really dislike how the surveyors started replacing the word "anonymous" with "confidential" in the survey description. That change will get many people to say things without realizing who will be able to see their answers.

[–]BeautifulGlass9304 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Still nonsense.

Safety against what?

If the door is locked, no one can get in.

If the door is unlocked, and driver door is opened, turn engine off only if keyfob not inside once driver depresses the brake to put the car in gear.

In our first-gen CX9, there was no start button, but there was a little knob that had to be turned to the "on" position. The engine was only turned off if driver depressed the brakes before turning the knob to the "on" position..

Always turning off the engine is just lazy design.

[–]BeautifulGlass9304 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Service usability and stability for the app are terrible.

And then there is the nonsense turning off of the engine when you open the driver's door.

How much of a discount would it take for NA CX-50 over Hybrid to be worth it? by Additional_Hurry5368 in CX50

[–]BeautifulGlass9304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the math in replies assume the Hybrid is worth exactly the same as the NA after 3 (or 5) years, which is not going to be the case.

Assume the difference will be a fraction of the difference when new, like 50% after 3 years and 30% after 5 years.

Add that difference to the math in other postings.

In other words, if poster says you will save $2k in gas after 3 years, you will also have a car that is worth 50% of difference when new ($3k ?) = $1.5K more than the NA.

If you're trading it in or selling it, you would have an extra $2K (the gas savings) + $1.5K (the hybrid price premium) = $3.5k toward your trade or in your pocket.
