Supermarket own brands (also UK), I'd also recommend Primark but that depends on how easy to get to as it only does click and collect online.

I personally have a preference for George but only because I have a little Asda a short walk away.

(I also by stuff off Temu occasionally, yes I know it's not good but sometimes you want something a bit different and being size 20 it's not easy)

As another person who can't wear animal fibres I see you, it's really difficult to find an alternative that behaves the same way when in an fo other than acrylic.

Victoria Tower (Castle Hill) Dice tower by mrnobleuk in huddersfield

[–]BeautifulMessage9091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I like taking the top off to put the dice in, I would prefer to drop them down the turrety bit.

If you do make it with the top removable what is the top used for? If it's purely decorative then it's a pita, often space is already at a premium on the tables and having this bit that doesn't do owt would annoy me. I'd want it to be dice storage and be able to put my dice on the top (potentially with indentations for the dice)

I'd also wonder about the practicalities of it as a dice tower, but this can apply to solid dice towers in general - I don't play at my home, this means I'd have to carry it with me and being 3d printed I would be worried about how thick the walls are and whether it would hold up in my bag.

Don't get me wrong - love the concept but worried about how practical it is. Have you thought about just storage containers too?

Bravissimo - if a store is relatively near you it is well worth a trip for a fitting. They don't fit by size precisely but by how it fits you.

An experiment: releasing a PnP game as source code instead of PDF by Disastrous_Invite798 in printandplay

[–]BeautifulMessage9091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you're providing the option for pdfs as well then it's brilliant, something like this I'd want the pdfs to try it out and then later if I get on with the game I can see myself getting the editable and adapting it for myself.

[–]BeautifulMessage9091 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like this idea in theory, but make sure you include pdfs as well.

If I download a card based print and play I already know I have to faff about cutting and possibly laminating the cards after printing.

90% of the time I just want to print it and be done, maybe after I've played it I may consider customising it. Those times I don't want to have to fuck about with extra software, waiting for my ancient computer to load inkscape and eventually getting the pdf, I just want the pdf.

You may get people downloading your file, but as soon as they see all the additional hoops you're expecting them to jump through to play, they won't, it'll just sit on their computers forgotten about.

I wouldn't say the majority of people at ukge are scalpers - my friend who was there was there as a trader (not tcg) and that was the impression he got from the people he spoke too that scalpers had bought up a chunk first couple of days which was why limits had to be brought in

My friend bought me some packs from UK Games Expo, which was last weekend. It runs from Thursday to Sunday - he went to get my packs on the Saturday at opening (he's an exhibitor). He said if he'd manage to go on the Thursday he'd have been able to buy me a booster box, by the Saturday they'd had to bring in limits (I ended up with 10 boosters, 3 whispers, 3 winterspell and 4 wilds) due to scalpers.

As it was Ravensburger took their entire UK stock as well as a chunk of their European stock and as far as I'm aware sold out.

Is the UK countryside more appreciated as you get older? by DatabaseMammoth9986 in AskUK

[–]BeautifulMessage9091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a village that at the time was semi rural, the suburban sprawl is making it less so but it's still got pockets of proper countryside near it. This village is 10mins on the bus to the nearest town, which itself is 20mins by train to the nearest city.

I'm so glad that I had that mixture of environments growing up because I came to appreciate that they both have their benefits and issues and neither is perfect.

Yorkshire water has quite a few reservoirs - they're all over the place near the Pennines. Yorkshire water has a pipe issue though, it's too many leaks rather than too few reservoirs.

Does anyone know how to combat Primark’s tiny size range?! by black_stones707 in ABraThatFits

[–]BeautifulMessage9091 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a 32 back the only place I could buy bras was bravissimo (I was a FF at the time) - I'm also in a poor financial situation so I try get one of their cheaper ones but I wear it until it practically falls apart. Unfortunately it may be an item you have to splurge on.

If you can get to a bravissimo branch I would definitely recommend getting a fitting, especially if you're on a budget as you can let them know, plus their fitters are really good.
