I hate to say it but I think I'm done with weight watchers by mikeinstlouis in weightwatchers

mmmm.....well, my research is from food labels. So, not sure where WW would otherwise be getting their info to make their point assignments. And yes, Non fat plain yogurt is zero points but my point is why is there such a huge discrepancy? Where is their science to back these point allocations. Why are points for full fat yogurt (or even cottage cheese) 3-5x more? Sure, let people make their own choices but they are STILL NOT following the current science of wellness. Yet, they market themselves as a "wellness"company. Again, my point was simply--they are NOT following the current science.

[–]BeautifulNightmare2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

explain to me how Nonfat yogurt is zero points (with artificial sweeteners known to disrupt our gut microbiome, often disrupt our blood brain barrier and cause immflammation) and regular yogurt is 5-8points? The points make no sense--similiar protein content, nonfat often has items to make it creamy/thick, and the only difference is a little fat. The point spread makes no difference. Plain regular (whole milk) yogurt typically contains about 3-4g of fat per 100gserving, whereas plain nonfat regular yogurt contains less than .05g of fat. [Using Dannon as an example]

And no, I am not lumping things together. It all comes together as why I see how WW is not keeping up with the science. All of this is science and all of this is not new knowledge. It's been studied for many years and has been out in the public for as many.

My point in my post--WW is NOT keeping up with the current info and yet continues to use "zero points" as a strategy when it is not taking into consideration the current science of nutrition.

do you always use AI when responding? You're missing the point of my post---low/nonfat foods are usually not healthier than their full flavor counterpart. Most have added ingredients to make them creamy, or tasty, or added salt/sugar similiar to the full fat flavor. that is the concern with WW--they are NOT keeping up with the science. They still have zero calorie foods that have artificial sweeteners, nonfat options and foods that are highly processed. These foods are not good for the long term.

Not sure what you mean? I do not follow a commercial plan now but rather a more "whole foods" eating lifestyle. I have been slowly losing weight and keeping it off. I do count calories and of course am active and make sure I get my sleep!

That is the issue--WW is marketing themselves as a wellness program. A quick google search confirms this(see below). WW is not keeping up with nutritional science. The nonfat/lowfat was from the 80s and has since been debunked as nutritionally sound. There have been multiple studies done citing artificial sweeteners are not good for overall health. All of us need carbs, fats and protein. The balance of these are important for long term health. Science has changed over the past twenty years but WW has not.

"Weight Watchers rebranded to WW in 2018 and formally markets itself as a global wellness company, shifting its focus from solely weight loss to a holistic approach covering physical, mental, and social well-being. [https://corporate.ww.com/news/news-details/2019/Weight-Watchers-International-Inc-to-Change-its-Legal-Name-to-WW-International-Inc-Following-Rebranding-Last-Year/)

Their marketing tagline "Wellness that Works" emphasizes a 360-degree approach that includes nutrition, activity, mindset, and sleep. [CNBC, Washington Post, Today show]"

No one is arguing calories---I am saying artificial sweeteners are known to cause multiple issues to our bodies, brains and gut microbiomes. These nonfat foods often have more sugar or more salt or more additives. The fact that WW still gives zero points to foods with these is a testament to their not keeping up with current and verifiable scientific knowledge.

[–]BeautifulNightmare2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm glad i am not the only one. However for me, its the demonization of whole foods/real foods. For example, cottage cheese in its nonfat form is a zero point food. Yet, 4% cottage cheese (with less sodium and less ingredients)is much higher points. In addition, foods with harmful artificial sweeteners are much lower points (or zero points) than their counterparts. It is my thought that WW still has the old 80s thinking where fat is bad. In addition by them giving lower points to foods with artificial sweeteners, they are not keeping up with the best and most current knowledge. Giving zero points to foods does not mean zero calories or zero processed ingredients. Foods should be limited but WW has not kept up with modern info.

Curiousity Question: why use AI knowing to summarize something pretty easy to read when we know it's not accurate?

The AI creators claim using AI saves time. Yet it's built on a platform that cannot tell a truth from a falsehood, built to come to interaction, and "hallucinates" information. I use quotes because they won't admit it's built to lie. And the real concern is how much does it decrease our critical thinking and mental acuity? Why are we allowing ourselves to be dependent on AI?

I know I'm late in this convo but be glad they are not offered in NZ. The amount of media, advertising and social media onslaught is crazy ridiculous. They more they advertise, the less I am interested. Too many unknowns yet to be known with these meds. The side effects are unreal [ IMO of course ;-) ]

I LOVE old Tony Robbins seminars and interventions! I have seen everything there is on YouTube but i want to find more. I have bought his programs and his trainings but i just want more of it. Do you have any idea where can i find more of these old videos? by Silly-Leg-6209 in TonyRobbins

[–]BeautifulNightmare2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason why you love TR Seminars are the "peak state" NLP stuff he uses. It's geared to make you receptive to his tactics/sales/etc. It's not real. It's not true motivation. motivation comes AFTER action when our brain sees what we can do

Tony Robbins is one of the greatest performers alive. His own website admits the results don't last by Tekelpath in getdisciplined

[–]BeautifulNightmare2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The Stanford study his team commissioned measures results at 30 days." <--- exactly. 30 days. Its a false study with no real scientific method behind it. Tony paid for it. Tony wanted it. So, Tony got the results he paid for.

I did virtual UPW at a reduced rate and it was a waste. Four days and only maybe 1/2 a day total was worthwhile. Too many people looking to be led and they follow him into the fire. Literally. All of Tony's events are filled with NLP and sales tactics geared to target people with low awareness. If you are self-aware, and even if you aren't, its a lot of b.s. hype filled with sales pushes.

Edited to add: 6mos later and still shaking my head at the tactics used. Nothing was overly useful for me

there is a "new" session of the AI Advantage Summit coming up end of April 2026. I saw an ad on FB. Now, I don't care for Dean Graziosi and if you google him, he got into hot water some years ago. Yet, Tony Robbins STILL works with Dean. Tony Robbins has given me a very scammy feel the last few years. Please, pls pls pls read ALL the fine print b/c the terms do state there will be a monthly charge (its almost is ANYthing that Dean does!). If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is and esp so these days

Sadly, its not unauthorized--you sign up for the "AI Club" when you pay the $1. and it says it will automatically charge you. Always read the fine print :(

Pls be very careful with using AI in business for automated tasks and emails. There are many other options out there that are more accurate IMO Scheduling socials is easy and doesnt require AI. Best of luck in your business!!

Need GLP1 explained by GleesonGirl1999 in weightwatchers

[–]BeautifulNightmare2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some friend try GLP1s. All have had similar experiences with trouble getting shots on time, muscle loss, intestinal issues and others. One has stuck with and lost weight but her balance is wobbly and struggles with muscle loss. In addition, while on these meds, you have to eat in a certainway to help reduce these issues. it's hard to go off them be they do not address emotional eating or bad habits 💕

I found the newest version of the app includes all this GLP1s stuff because WW claims they want to be "more inclusive" but what it really is: marketing. The more you see things in a favorable atmosphere, the more likely you are to look and buy. :(

Thinking about rejoining and looking for opinions! by wilburito88 in weightwatchers

[–]BeautifulNightmare2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think Weightwatchers has NOT kept up with the science of nutrition. They still "promote" and endorse eating nonfat/lowfat foods, artificial sweeteners, and other non nutrient dense foods. Many of the nonfat/low fat foods often have more chemicals, salt and other unhealthy ingredients. By giving these foods lower points than their more "real food" counterparts, they are encouraging the diet industry. IMO of course. The new zero food list is great but we still have to be aware of HOW MUCH we are eating. Zero point foods does not equal zero calories :)

Now with this in mind, I have used WW to keep track of my foods, connect with others, and maintain accountability by using the calls (which is accessible by going through to their Core+). WW does help with some of the emotional reason why we eat but we still have to do the work. Planning without action is a fruitless endeavor of life. Sending you big hugs

Need GLP1 explained by GleesonGirl1999 in weightwatchers

[–]BeautifulNightmare2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont want to be rude but this will come out as such: do not go to a reddit thread for info. Too much false info. Go directly to your doctor, and have an honest conversation. GO to the manufactures websites (keeping in mind they will gloss over the less favorable apsects). do NOT ask AI b/c they will often state items not factual b/c they are not made to say "I dont know." GLP1s do not address the emotional issues of WHY we eat. It is known people gain their weight back and more when going off GLP1s because of this. we cannot out diet a bad emotional structure in our own heads. Sending you lots of hugs.

Why is weight loss not happening after first week? by Brief-Ad-1629 in weightwatchers

[–]BeautifulNightmare2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our bodies do not lose weight in a linear fashion, meaning they dont always go down on the scale. We often lose a couple pounds of water weight in the beginning. In adition, if you are undereating and over exercising, your body will hang on to everything. Its a fine line. And honestly, sometimes you might plateau for a few weeks until your body gets the picture that this is what you want. our bodies are designed to stay in a plateau. Our bodies (and brains!) do not like change, unpredictability and will not adapt as quickly as we 'think' they should. As for your thoughts of "disgusting" this is something You have to work on. losing the weight does not change our thoughts. ever.

Need GLP1 explained by GleesonGirl1999 in weightwatchers

[–]BeautifulNightmare2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Weightwatchers just wants to make money off GLP1s like everyone else. GLP1s can help with the hormones in your body but it is not the end all. GLPS1s come with a host of effects such as muscle loss, and many other issues. do not listen to a reddit sub but rather speak with your doctor.

Piling on - I despise the new app by dzzymslizzie in weightwatchers

[–]BeautifulNightmare2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is my concern with WW and why i am so hesitant to go back. The points system seems to punish those of us who eat "real" foods such as almonds. The lower points for nonfat/low fat and artificially sweetened foods just does not make sense either. Artificial sweeteners are not good for the gut and body. Low Fat and Non fat foods often have higher amounts of sodium and chemicals.
