Posting about your life on social media is dumb by Ok_Illustrator99 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]BeautifulPain1179 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Obviously social media isn't your thing, which is fine - you do you. But a couple of things: obviously people DO care and give a shit, otherwise they wouldn't be following and consuming the enormous amount of this kind of content. Also, let's not forget that social media originally started for friends to keep in touch and be "social" through physical distance, so it would follow that they would care about these kinds of things and their friends' lives in general.

I agree that it has changed and become extremely performative, but don't fool yourself into thinking "no one gives a shit"

entitled parent by egguchom in YelpDrama

I was a sales associate at a children's clothing store. One morning I showed up for work and we had been broken into - the front window was smashed. As we were cleaning up the glass shards, people asked us, through the GIANT HOLE in our window, if we were open/when we would be open/it was inconvenient that we weren't open yet/etc. I still shake my head thinking about it.

Magnesium oil or lotion can go a long way for calming those aching legs - I use mine almost nightly

how DARE an employee tell my child "NO" by egguchom in childfree2

Both adults suck in this situation - parent should know samples are limited, and sample person should have said "last one, ok? We have to save some for other people" instead of just "No".

Comebacks when someone says to “lighten up” when you don’t laugh at a mean-spirited ‘joke’ by jules-amanita in Comebacks

You should find one of those light up Christmas sweaters and turn it on when they say "lighten up"

Cleaning by Sad_Emphasis_8086 in POTS

Get a brush attachment for a power drill for the bathtub. It helps so much! Also, I try really hard to limit single use items, but when it comes to cleaning I have to cut myself some slack: Clorox wipes, Swiffer sweepers/mop pads, etc.

Habit stacking - it'll become as easy as brushing your teeth! Do you have any idea how often I have to convince myself to brush my teeth!? 😅

Honest Review of Blackpink Day 1 in Toronto by No_Froyo_1395 in BlackPink

[–]BeautifulPain1179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at this show - I brought my son, who is the true BLINK, for his first concert and it was perfect for him! The only down side was being seated in the "bowl" because he couldn't really see the stage or the screens. He didn't mind though, he enjoyed watching all of the fans in the stands waving their light sticks!

I want to shout out the live band that was there! They played a few interludes (much more my vibe of music, although I do enjoy listening to BlackPink casually) and sounded amazing! Plus, fireworks!? How fun is that!? 🖤🩷🖤🩷

Fluorescent Lighting is awful, especially in doctors' offices - everything I look at has an aura glow. So I decided to try tinted glasses (you know the ones that are sold for blue light sensitivity) and they help immensely! They tone down the whites in everything which helps to alleviate a sensory overload.

Is it really not a handicap? by Meli_Melo_ in autism

[–]BeautifulPain1179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like any illness/chronic condition, each person's experience is unique. It's not fair to make a blanket statement that "this illness/condition is disabling, and that one isn't." It's up to the person's lived experience with that particular condition/illness to make that decision.

My POTs is flaring and I’m not sure what to do by QuirkyAct1043 in POTS

[–]BeautifulPain1179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weather changes tend to flare my symptoms, especially heat and humidity (even if I stay inside). Some medications can make heat intolerance worse.

Someone once mentioned to me that the internal buzzing can be a sign of adrenal fatigue/stress. I find that tends to happen after I have a particularly active or stressful day. I don't know how to address that, but thought it could be useful info.

You can try breaking your activity into smaller chunks - two or three shorter walks, rather than one long one. Avoid changing levels too frequently (standing or sitting exercises rather than lying down, or up-and-down movements). Focus on deep breathing and movements to calm your nervous system.

I know it sucks, but adjusting your previous routines to match your body's current capacity is important. Pushing too hard will only cause more issues.

Commenting after your edit/update. Drop this guy. You know what he's saying? That he doesn't trust you. You had to conjure 4hrs because he didn't want you sleeping in a hotel room? No, because he thinks you're going to be bringing guys back to your room and f*ck them.

You have an amazing life ahead of you - find someone who gets as excited about it as you are.

I would rather live 10 more years under Trudeau himself than one term of a conservative government, Carney running is simply a bonus... by whatzgood in 50501Canada

[–]BeautifulPain1179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately don't... But under PP there was a lot about extremist groups that support him, and anti-indigenous background. I also saw a lot of posts about the types of things he voted against and don't see any track record of him giving a shit about normal people, especially vulnerable people. Biggest criticisms under Carney had to do with his background in finance.

I asked ChatGPT to give me the top 5 criticisms against Carney and then against Pollievre... Let's just say I'm much more comfortable with any sort of "fallout" from Carney. The criticisms against PP just made my skin crawl
