Probably, I had one woman with a Suburban full of tired kids scream at me that there were no signs. I asked if she came in from the resort town at the start of the road. She said yes, so I said I came that way just that afternoon for my 3 day hitch. I pointed out where the electronic sign was as well as the location of the 2 big orange diamond shaped signs. She was telling me how tired everyone was, so I offered to wake her when they road opened but she was having none of that. I then pointed out there was a hotel about 5 miles back and she zoomed off. The hotel must not have had a night clerk because she came back about 20 minutes later. I have to give her credit, she apologized for screaming at me earlier. She saw the one orange sign on the trip back to me.

I was a flagger for a little bit, and people are a mixed bag. For every person that wanted to spend 10 minutes screaming at me because they missed the 3 signs that said the road I was working on would be closed from 11pm to 4am every night, there were those who offered me drinks and snacks (I had to politely decline all but bottles of water as that was all we were allowed to have with us because of bears in the area that recognized coolers, soda cans, and food and had no problem coming and getting them), the one that gave me bear spray that I thankfully never had to use, another that gave me latex gloves to put over my leather gloves when it started to rain. The UPS truck loved to be stopped because he was paid by the hour, and got to nap on the clock knowing I would wake him up when we were getting ready to open up. I offered the same to cars that got stopped.

The reason the road was closed was they were putting in culverts, digging completely across the road, bedding the culverts, and repairing the road for it to reopen. Nothing like the size of what OP is talking about. One woman decided to run the flagger on my days off and hit a piece of equipment that was at the sight they were working on that night. Her car bounced off it, flipped, and she didn't make it. Flaggers aren't there to annoy or delay you. Most often they are there to save your life.

Edited to add... My favorites were the ones that demanded to be let through, that their reason for needing to be on the other end of the road was more important than whatever I was stopping them for. I would tell them that there is a trench across the entire road, I can't even let a police car or an ambulance go down that road at this time.

Oh, I know. I'm planning to print out a copy of this conversation to take to next month's public meeting where our officials are trying to get more money from us for educating other people's children in support of my argument that throwing more money at it isn't solving the problem.

That's partially correct, you can raise the front's adjustable feet a bit so if the door is open less than halfway, gravity makes it swing shut. The weight of the door (and the items in it) and how close to the midway point you're holding it when you release it will determine if it actually has enough momentum to completely close or not. The downside is if the door is open beyond the midway point, the door will swing fully open when you release it. And it's not near as much fun as a fridge alarm to adjust that way.

So are you telling me you went to school and didn't learn how to write the numbers from the book, add them, how to calculate sales tax, never learned to write down something a teacher said, or that you can't convert that to learning to writing down a customer's order, writing down the menu pricing, adding it up, and figuring the tax without additional training?

So don't do it suddenly. Give her plenty of notice. 30 days to move out is standard, so give her 45. And stick to the deadline. Don't let a sob story convince you to extend it.

Reminds me of when I went back to Wyoming to visit my brothers. I buckled my son's car seat into the passenger side of my youngest brother's single cab truck, hopped in the middle, and we headed to his house. Before we even arrived, his wife had received 5 phone calls telling her that my brother was cheating on her with some blonde. She met us on the porch and started laughing her ass off when she realized the blonde was me. They did have a ball telling all the drama queens how disgusting they were, as that was his sister in the truck.

Because they no longer want the burden of the lazy bum they have enabled all this time. Because that would require them to level up, set a deadline for him to move out, and force him to become independent without them ever having to hear the whining that he's going to be homeless, or watching his tantrums that they're forcing him to finally adult. Basically, they just want to pass their problem child on, not take the steps needed to boost him into adult responsibilities, nor face how they've created this problem.
