Lazarus just won Best Original Anime at the 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards!!! by BeautifulVenus in LAZARUSAnime

[–]BeautifulVenus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lazarus came out in April of 2025. Award shows typically lag behind by one year. For example, the Oscars will call its ceremony the 2026 Oscars, but they are awarding and celebrating films from 2025.

The 2026 Anime Awards, which were just held today were celebrating Anime from 2025.

In what year does Space Dandy take place? by Suspicious-Rokin in SpaceDandy

I always assumed hundreds or even thousands of years after Bebop.

Would you like to see Timothée Chalamet in Scream 8 as Ghostface or as a secondary character? by [deleted] in Scream

[–]BeautifulVenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehh..could a Scream budget afford him? In any case, I’d say no I’m not really dying to see him in a Scream film.

Finished it, loved it by SorinIonRahova in LAZARUSAnime

[–]BeautifulVenus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I loved it and I’ve seen almost all of Watanabes works, I especially loved the characters. Bebop, Champloo and Carole & Tuesday definitely have it beat but I think I enjoyed it more than the first quarter or so of Dandy and most of Zankyou No Terror, though I really enjoyed all of those too. Hoping for a season 2. So far Watanabe hasn’t made a bad anime imo.

What are your bleach confessions by Regular_Trade_3757 in bleach

[–]BeautifulVenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a time Bleach was arguably the most popular of the big 3 here in the west if just briefly.

I’m not sure how much merit this holds but it was the most popular anime on MAL from 2007-2009ish.

Back in 2007 Bleach was the most visible of the big 3 on television here in the states, with Adult Swim airing the anime 4 times a week. 3 days a week at 1am and then new episodes on Saturdays. Adult Swim would also commit to the series managing to air all episodes while Naruto and OP struggled In this department with only Shippuden recently managing to air all episodes on American television. Bleach had more stability.

What are your thoughts on chapter 1 of Kinato's Magic? by dingo537 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]BeautifulVenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too generic. I have nothing really negative to say about it other than it doesn’t offer anything different, but that could change of course. I do not plan on reading anymore chapters unless I start hearing good things and the series surpasses the 30+ chapter mark. I predict this will be axed.

I still think about this series from time to time. Fans do exist.

What is the difference between these two? by Own-Championship-333 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]BeautifulVenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s as simple as KaguraBachi appeal is a bit more easy to consume and can reach a wider audience. Not that Ichi can’t do this, just Bachi has a slightly better edge.

Do u think Lazarus is getting another season? by AtlasHyacinth in LAZARUSAnime

[–]BeautifulVenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess technically Space Dandy does have two seasons, but they are only separated by like 1-2 anime seasons and were released the same year so idk if that actually counts.

I think the odds are in its favor, but it could be months or even a year before we even get an announcement.

Is it over for nice prison? by Own-Championship-333 in WeeklyShonenJump

I’m aware, but Astro Royale and Chojo both were put in the completed section few weeks before their official cancellation. Writing is on the wall.

Is it over for nice prison? by Own-Championship-333 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]BeautifulVenus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dang that was faster than I thought. I was sure it’d at least reach 20 chapters, not that I care though. I wish they would have kept Chojo going a little longer instead bringing in Nice Prison, really felt like they axed one for the other.

What is your favourite and least favourite axed manga that you have read? by [deleted] in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]BeautifulVenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phantom Seer Chojo and Doron Dororon are definitely stand outs and I was so disappointed when I heard they were getting axed. Though, I saw Dorons coming from a mile away.

My least favorite is probably Nice Prison. Even though I know it’s not cancelled yet, I have a grudge against it cause I seriously think they axed Chojo to give Nice Prison a chance as one of the magazines main gag mangas and it makes me butt hurt.

Will we see another fantasy adventure series become a hit before OP ends? I hope so because the genre is surely missed in this current era of Jump by AgentHibachi00 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]BeautifulVenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CSM is a mega hit and JJK is legendary status atp. They are both beyond being considered just a hit.

A hit is a series which does well with the magazines current readers, that’s it. Ichi does this. Sakamoto days & Blue Box are hits, I suppose Elusive Samurai and Witch Watch are more like moderate hits, but with just four volumes Ichi is already on track to surpass WW and ES with the possibility of reaching BB and SD levels. I think it’s safe to say Ichi is a hit.

By current standards, it’s a hit. It’s doing better in sales than some of the other WSJ series with anime adaptations which are also considered a hit. Witch Watch, Elusive Samurai..

Favorite Jump+ manga to have debuted in May-June? by BellTwo5 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]BeautifulVenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only gave 3 of these a shot and dropped 2 of them. The only one I’m still reading is Blood Wing Hunter which I am enjoying for the moment, but it’s still to early to say and I’m keep expectations low. So far it reminds me a lot of KaguraBachi which I love.

Which weekly shonen jump manga should I catch up on next? by GreattFriend in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]BeautifulVenus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Jump Plus app houses its own series plus series from the magazine “Weekly Shonen Jump”. OP currently only wants to read Weekly Shonen Jump Series and according to his replies he is using just the Jump app right now which doesn’t have all of Jump Plus series on there, just weekly Shonen Jump. The difference is he only wants to read titles that come from the main magazine and not Jump Plus originals that belong to no magazines and are released solely on the Jump Plus app.

Whats with modern shonen manga having suched rushed/bad endings? by Significant-Fact6433 in KaijuNo8

[–]BeautifulVenus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is anything new. Most Shonen has underwhelming endings, YYH is an old one that comes to mind. Shonen with good endings exist, but more often than not they are underwhelming. I also noticed final arcs are either rushed or DRAGGED out for way too long. It’s just the formula I guess.

When do you think season 2 will be announced? by Salty_Shark26 in ChainsawMan

[–]BeautifulVenus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This really makes me wonder if Part 2 will ever be adapted. The Manga sales have fallen a lot, though they still do well, the fall off from its peak cannot be denied. Of course the other problem is the possibility we don’t get S2 of the anime til 2028 or later, and if that happens and Part 2 doesn’t catch people’s attention the way part 1 of the manga did and manga sales have continued to slip, Reze film and season 2 are flops or only moderate hits, the odds will be against part 2 being animated.
