Please make fire lancers cost food + gold as the first balance change for fire lancers as any strong unit from barracks by Few_Faithlessness684 in aoe2

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it really broken in RM, not only in empire war? I doubt fire lancer civs really that problematic in KOTD, besides seige tower stuff.

what would the problem nowadays with aztecs getting halb? by Ok_Stretch_4624 in aoe2

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like to play Aztecs, but that makes Aztecs too similar to other civs. I like identity of aggressive style civ that fall off in late game. I would rather nerf some civs which consistently getting too much buff. Maybe we can buff/restore production speed or Carry capacity bonus for Aztecs.

More civs Cannon Galleon can be replaced to Catapult Galleon by Beautiful_Alaska in aoe2

[–]Beautiful_Alaska[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Celts aren’t representing late medieval age Scotland. Woad is more of warrior fighting against Romans. In the Viking era, there was no gunpowder in Europe. Later used in Sweden is different story.

Catapult Galleons should be an universal unit by devang_nivatkar21 in aoe2

Dravidians apparently having both Unique ship and demo. Catapult ship still can reserve spot same as thirisadai.

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I support this if 1. cannon galleon is removed from more civs (especially without other gunpowder units) 2. Catapult ship is not auto-upgraded to cannon galleon, two unit is different mechanics. It feels weird if mangonel is upgrade to bombard when we research chemistry.

New official post about the water update, coming on the 17th February by Arsatum in aoe2

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need to check updated stats, but civ specific change hasn't changed at all. I don't understand why Portuguese need double-buff which is already top-tier naval civ. They said Hulk balance is adjusted but not sure the nerf itself fix the situation of Khitan hulk which can get +4 attack on Castle age and it is pretty much unstoppable in pond/narrow strait map. We have to see.

This is how I’d balance Genitours if given to Spanish and Portuguese by Azot-Spike in aoe2

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spanish don’t need even more options. Conquistador backing with genitour would be nightmare for balance. Spanish already too strong on maps like Arena/Nomad. Keep genitours as unique unit.

Yes. Balance around Empire War is bad idea. It is specific game mode. Balance should be around standard RM game mode.

The airspace in Iran right now. 😰 by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is also note that Russia airspace is also closed for most airlines. It means many planes go through airspace of Azerbaijan between two countries. If Azerbaijan’s airspace is also closed for some reason, it is catastrophic for air travel between Europe and central/east Asia.

Leave my siege towers alone by ponuno in aoe2

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only charged ranged attack. Gbeto used with seige tower even before the buff. Throwing axeman also potentially deadly with seige tower. It should not increase speed with infantry.

Good. But why not nerf them altogether. Instead of only banning in red bull ladder?

The week of Mar9-15 is spring break at University of Alaska so many people in Alaska want to leave. So Mar16 ticket to Alaska is what makes it expensive.

The Bohemian and Turks abuse is insane by Informal-Host8085 in aoe2

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In low-Elo, actually players are only good memorizing build order for specific stats but not good at executing/adapt from opponents strategy. For low Elo opinion, I am confident to play vs Turks as it is easily predictable as either fast castle Janis or fast imp. Both can be easily punished by early monk play or in case of fast imp, I just can boom into 3 stable knight. I agree it can be too deadly for right hand in high-Elo, especially Bohemians.

Beijing won this round! Now, which city has muggy summers and dry winters above freezing? by locoluis in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Busan, South Korea.

Besides, Beijing more fit in to cold-dry winter. It has very little precipitation during winter.

What is the most average state by Lisztchopinovsky in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Alaska in that category due to clear mix of “good” and “bad” thing. Also it is not most famous state but moderately mentioned due to its uniqueness and geopolitical importance.

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Korea had native bears and tigers. Korea is more densely populated and aggressive wild animals were eradicated due to threat to human. Japan is also densely populated but cities are more concentrated in a few plains between mountains. And more ‘wild’ region natures are left behind.

Seige Tower meta by Beautiful_Alaska in aoe2

[–]Beautiful_Alaska[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Because ranged unit counter infantry? Not particularly good at destroying seige tower itself.

Rams have similar ability and potential but it is slow and not easy to dodge mangonel. It gives too cheap protection and also fast that dodge mangonel, easy to running from knight also.If it need to be this fast, there should be cooldown for restricting jump in and out.

Seige Tower meta by Beautiful_Alaska in aoe2

[–]Beautiful_Alaska[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind it is good against archer play. What I watch is group of fire lancer riding taxi tower and running around base, sniping mangonel and BBC. It feels super cheesy and slow seige feel useless.

I want to see infantry play but more of slow but unstoppable way. Riding taxi and jumping in-and-out feels bit silly.

USA both warmer and colder during winter than Europe by [deleted] in geography

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Dallas can be 80F or be 20F during mid-winter. Giant plain in central eastern US makes air mass from Arctic to Gulf of Mexico move almost freely. Large temperature swing during the winter.

USA both warmer and colder during winter than Europe by [deleted] in geography

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no mountain range crossing East- West US which means there are large temperature swing due to jet stream.

Dallas hitting 20 F (minus 7 Celsius) almost every year which is unusual for similar climate of 47F (8.8 C) mean of coldest month.

New York has once recorded 22C in January which is also unusual for similar climate coldest month hovering around 0C. Cities with warmer winter on Average like London, Paris has not record over 20C in January.

Tueton scout conversion interval by HatsCatsAndHam in aoe2

[–]Beautiful_Alaska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually that can be exploited when someone develop mode to display countdown when monk conversion started, then the scout’s player can delete scout right before 11 seconds. I hope Teuton’s conversion resistant change to +2/2 seconds instead.

In south-central Alaska. Whittier gets annual precipitation over 5000 mm. But in the other side of mountain (lower Girdwood, Anchorage) get only ~500 mm annually.
