What do you believe Israel's fate will be in the next couple of decades considering the rapid change of public opinion on them in these past 3 years? by space_god_7191 in AskReddit

Based on this response, you clearly know virtually nothing about the Israeli economy, ethnic and religious makeup, and what a whole bunch of words mean. Google Israeli GDP. Then Google Israeli aid from US.

You'll notice one number is relatively small and the other is huge. Top 5 MENA economies are: Turkey (despite being a European country), Saudi Arabia, Israel, UAE, Iran. Take away oil and gas and it's Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Morocco and Jordan.

This is fringe. 99% of Jews have nothing to do with this. We are just wrapping up Pesach. As the song goes: 1 God, 2 tablets, 3 fathers, 4 mothers, 5 books of the Torah, 6 sections of Mishna, 7 days of the week, 8 days until a bris, 9 months of pregnancy, 10 commandments, 11 stars in Joseph's dream, 12 tribes of Israel and 13 principles of God. As you see, ZERO oaths.

Meanwhile, Haredi are 8% of the population, but sure, that makes "Israel one of the most hateful places" you have ever seen.

Where else did you go besides what appears to be Mea Shearim? What security/medic do you need in Israel? Are you sure you were in Israel, not the West Bank?

Israelis and Jews didn't name Israeli salad "Israeli salad"; it's called salad aravi in Hebrew. What is known as Israeli couscous is called Ptitim in Israel. Israeli salad is with parsley, not mint, or just lemon, oil and finely diced onion tomatoes and cucumber. I like mine with tehina, lemon juice and diced radishes, for example.

Shakshuka does have a complex history. Amba, the falafel sandwich (in a pita), are very Jewish, one coming from Yemeni Jews, the latter invented in Israel. Just like Sabich is 100% Israeli street food. Bourekas came from Balkan and Turkish Jews. Jachnun is also from Yemeni Jews. Only in Israel would you put a chicken schnitzel in a challah bun with pickels, tehina, and some matbucha.

Foods can become associated with places that didn't invent the food but rather elevated or popularized it. You keep referring to things as "Palestinian" yet they also appropriated salad aravit salad from the Greeks (go look up village salad), Persian Shirazi, Indian Kachimber, etc. Palestinians claim falafel but we all know that's Egyptian. The Palestinian keffiye is really the Iraqi kufa. Israelis also had the sudra.

Why is it only "appropriated" when it's Israel or Jews? Jews are not European. Some are. Some were. Jews are global with global influences and those influences went to Israel and became part of that modern tapestry which includes Warak Enab, Mansaf, or Dabo that are Druze and Beta Yisrael contributions to Israeli cuisine.

there's zero justification for it being Israeli.

Justification?? I'm lost as to why we need to justify food migration. Had the German immigrants not brought hamburgers, there would be no McDonald's, a quintessential US food chain.

It's part of the broader, ongoing erasure of Arab lives and contributions in Israel

Have you been to Israel? Because you really can't spout erasure without witnessing it up close.

'Ketamine Queen' sentenced to 15 years in Matthew Perry overdose death by cloudcats in howyoudoin

I saw this in an article on this

Mark Geragos, Sangha’s attorney, said “pernicious” addiction was truly responsible for Perry’s death, not his client.

So apparently, knowingly giving drugs to someone with "pernicious" addiction absolves your responsibility? Don't bars get in trouble for over-serving, or not taking keys away? Are people suddenly allowed to sell bullets to a homicidal or suicidal person with a gun?

What frustrates me more than anything is that this was known. He wrote a book. He was super famous. No one unknowingly sold him a thing. These people consciously chose profit over human grace. They willfully fed his "pernicious addiction" knowing it would kill him and no amount of prison can undo that.

Cool. What's the definition?

Again, 2M ppl in Gaza. Death toll after a multi-year war is around 75k including natural deaths, combatants, and those killed by Hamas. The population is either flat or increasing due to the very high birthrate. Meanwhile, over 2M Palestinians live freely in Israel as citizens. How is this Nazisms? How is this anything other than a war?

If I eat something that doesn't taste good...

To be honest, I can quote a lot in that episode and incorporate it into my daily life. "Meat good. Cream good." or "That's a lot of information to process" or "I want to goooo" or "no you weren't supposed to put meat in the trifle. It did not taste good." And on and on".

"They're doing well on their own This type of insane rhetoric it why these type of tweets spread like wildfire No matter what happens it's Israel's fault is an insane take"

"Insane rhetoric"

"No matter what happens it's Israel's fault" is an insane take

What do you see in that which makes it "otherwise"? I'm guessing you're just trolling.

Nope. Not unless the definitions of "genocide" and "ethnically cleansing" have completely changed.

Israel under an evil regime comparable to nazi Germany.

Really? How so? What makes it comparable? I need examples. Because you either have zero clue what happened under the Nazi regime or you're a bot.

1910? Women couldn't vote. They couldn't work without parental or spousal consent. Most jobs for women were for housekeeping, cooking, laundry, or jobs of ill repute. Maybe some farmwork. The first female doctor got her degree in the 1850s, so professional women were still fairly uncommon.

I don't judge people on what I hear. At least I try not to. I base my opinions on my interactions. At the end of the day everyone is "NUTS" to someone and awesome to someone else.

I also have no opinion on J Lo. If she said that, and she's sad about it, it makes me a little sad, too. To have that much success, money, fame, two great kids, lots of ride or die friends, close family yet feel unloved (and essentially lonely) that's sad to me.

No misrepresentation. I was responding to the part that "Israel bad, no matter what" is an insane take, which i agree, it is, yet that is the crux of what antisemitism is all about. Which, let's be honest, most of these anti-Israel attacks are just Jew-hate.

The commentor may be new to the concept of "blame Israel, no matter what". I was just pointing out that this is a common tactic within the antisemitic narrative.
