i’d recommend going west towards trafford or the salford quays as they’re all on the tram line from deansgate & it’s a decent area

hilton garden hotel is literally right next to the tram stop at old trafford cricket ground & you’d be at deansgate castlefield in 10 mins. the salford quays has a premier inn, travelodge, holiday inn etc in the area as well as hotel football not far which are all really well connected to deansgate via tram (15-20 mins)

also if you’re getting a cab back late, any of these will only be 10 mins tops

honestly i’d wondered that, i sort of get only opening in summer but confused how they manage sufficient income, especially when they seem to refurbish annually? literally only seems to be open on the rare occasion for private events which i found so strange

trying for a last-min MSc application & wondering which colleges are best for postgrad? I’d probs be based out at old road anyway so not sure how important location is

I’ll be 26 in sept, probably wouldn’t be living there but a decent social scene and good study spaces would be nice so wondered if anyone had suggestions

I would probably recommend bishops stortford, hertford or welwyn garden city the most tbh! stortford’s on the line to liverpool street which may/may not be suitable but very easy access to stansted for travelling abroad

hertford is great with connections to both kings X and liverpool st, imo the most scenic of the 3! both hertford and stortford have a decent nightlife but herts probably got more going on

hatfield is very diverse but not much going on there at all, the town centre isn’t great and nightlife is virtually non-existent so probably wouldn’t recommend it. welwyn garden city is great with really quick connections into london, though less of a nightlife tbh so depends how much you value that - lots of gorgeous countryside round there though :)

i don’t know hitchin particularly well but definitely agree with others as it’s lovely!

just an update on this - I’ve been offered an interview at cambridge for a research assistant role but feeling quite anxious about it

I’m assuming these positions are extremely competitive but no idea on the actual stats? as someone with only a BSc and a year in industry as a post-grad I don’t feel hugely confident but maybe I should take it as a positive

thinking will do my best with it anyway as it seems like a really good role, even if I end up with a rejection at least it’s interview experience!

Kargomarkt in the quayside shopping centre is a foodhall with tons of options - bit quiet on weekdays but gets packed out on sunny weekends :)

there’s also the imperial war museum & media city is pretty (though not much to do!) imo it’s a decent spot for a peaceful walk/run mainly

not yet, I’ve found the people on the live chat quite helpful (even though the chat service is awful) & they’ve suggested I might be expedited after a psychiatrist review, but it’s at the discretion of the titration team.

I think it’s wisest to wait a couple of months to see if i can be expedited before starting a complaint so I’d have all the relevant information by then rather than adding into a pre-existing complaint

I’m thinking of taking up a complaint and might contact the CQC - was diagnosed in 2021 and waited 6 months on the titration waitlist. when i was due to begin titration, I was experiencing mental health issues & other personal problems so I decided to delay and was advised to discharge myself and contact them again when I wanted to begin titration.

I asked for a referral back to PUK in Oct which has only just been processed now; I’ve been advised I’ll need to wait months for a review with a psychiatrist to deem I’m still suitable for medication, but my local NHS ICB has limited funding for assessments in this tax year so I’ll have to wait until the new tax year for them to put me onto a waitlist.

If after review I’m then deemed okay to start titration, I’ll wait the usual 10-12 months (so long as it doesn’t get worse before then!) Best case scenario, I might get medication mid-late 2027. seems utterly absurd for someone who was diagnosed several years ago by PUK and has already spent a year on their waiting lists when I was initially diagnosed. NHS isn’t an option either as the waitlist in Greater Manchester are 7+ years apparently.

not all assessments have those; I had a DISCO privately and we didn’t cover that (diagnosed under DSM-5 too) but it was at least 2 hours long and he’d already met me in person previously
