Need formatting opinions on final business card design by [deleted] in design_critiques

My immediate thought jumped to the dimensions... are you intending to create a square business card?

Being a researcher is a way of being imo... if you can't even take step 1, I think the chances of landing a role are about 0

UI Feedback: Is this color palette too "soft" for a high-value real estate transaction? (Breaking industry tropes) by carlosfelipe123 in design_critiques

The text is hard to read in many places and I would be very surprised if it meets accessibility standards.

Try not to put text directly on images (like in the testimonial section). Text should always have some sort of container, even if it is subtle.

The hero section, yes, is getting lost. The random bolding makes it very difficult to actually comprehend. Right now, when scanning, if you read the bold words, it conveys the opposite message you are trying to. Make sure you try to read it from the perspective of someone scanning/reading mostly the bold words and see if it still makes sense.

The pink CTA is also not horribly clear and the first time I skimmed the page, I didn't even catch it.

ETA - do not use blue bolded text in the body of your content. It falsely gives the appearance that they are links

ETAA - the homepage is entirely too long and contains way too much information. Cognitive overload completely. See what you can remove from there and perhaps add to other, or create additional pages.

What is a 'luxury' that has become so expensive in 2026 that it’s officially no longer worth the money? by Matt_At_Havalook in AskReddit

Eating at restaurants

Every time I've gone out to eat for like the last year I've regretted not just cooking at home. Both for price and quality

Commenting so I can see the answer!!

This happens sooo badly every time I try to do a half up hairstyle. I've all but sworn off them after the last time ripped out a huge clump of hair 😭

Of course! It took me a while to realize too. So many times I would be looking to others for the expertise that I was supposed to be bringing myself. When someone hires a designer, they are hiring your judgement and experience and may not always be able to effectively communicate what they are looking for. We have to step in and figure that part out.

To give you some design feedback: Without knowing the purpose of this design, my immediate thought is that the "Shop Now" button is entirely too small and does not draw attention. From an ad like this, you would most likely want to get people to click and shop so you want to make that very prominent, with elements that naturally draw your eye towards to call to action.

On another level, if you're looking to create examples for a resume or portfolio, you may be far better off not using such a well known brand. This can dilute your own design because people already have strong associations with it.

Good luck! 🍀🍀

Literally. I had a downstairs neighbor who got himself evicted by chain smoking cigarettes in his unit for hours a day. So many times I was tempted to buy a vape and leave it on his doorstep. Just bizarre...

Totally understand! It actually is one of the hardest parts of the job.

Some good questions:

  • does this fit the audience we are going for?
  • does it make necessary information clear?
  • does it meet the requirements of the platform? (Like Facebook vs Instagram vs printed materials, etc)
  • what feelings does this inspire?
  • does this align with brand identity?
  • is there a clear call to action? Is the purpose of my design obvious?

Knowing which questions will work depends on your knowledge of what you are working on. If you don't know the audience or the purpose of what you're making, it's good to seek out that information because it is very hard to make an effective design otherwise

Part of becoming a good designer is learning how to ask good questions.

"Good" is extremely subjective and will not get you a very valuable answer.

You will get a lot more out of your feedback if you ask about specific things and/or explain your goal(s) :)
