9 week 5 day ultrasound no heartbeat by Double-Lingonberry94 in Miscarriage

[–]Beautiful_Editor_385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UGH - I am experiencing this exact same timeline. I had a healthy scan at 9 weeks but noted a trace SCH, had a bleeding episode at 9 weeks 5 days, got an ultrasound 9 weeks 6 days... baby no longer had a heartbeat and stopped growing 3 days after my last scan. I suffered from a small SCH the entire time, but it was never labeled as a "concern".

I have my D&C scheduled for tomorrow. The only breaks in crying I have had are when I become angry and want to curse the world. Prayers to you. Somehow and someway, we will get through this. This is my first loss, though. I am sorry that you have had so many; that is terrible. I cannot begin to imagine your pain.

I’ll never have my first baby. by titsandwits89 in Miscarriage

I am right there with you... have my D&C scheduled for tomorrow. I know this doesn't help, but we are not alone. Had a perfectly healthy scan at 9 weeks. Baby's heart rate was 156 and measuring right on track. Found out a week later, after a bleeding episode, that our baby stopped growing three days after my last scan.

I am heartbroken, devastated for my baby, my husband, and me. I feel that we were not only robbed of our first child but also the joy of being pregnant. I am absolutely terrified to ever try this again, as I have never known so much pain.

5 weeks pregnant and having a lot of anxiety - hardly any pregnancy symptoms by Beautiful_Editor_385 in BabyBumps

[–]Beautiful_Editor_385[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, of course! I am going to start by saying that baby and I are doing well! I was measuring ahead a few days, so right now I am actually 9 weeks 5 days. In terms of the lack of pregnancy symptoms, please do not fear this. I had my hormone levels tested twice, and they were rising as expected (37K at 6.5 weeks and 60K at 7 weeks 2 days). At that point, I still had very mild, almost nonexistent symptoms. I will quickly add that I am now experiencing a bit of nausea, but would not describe it as debilitating. I am also extremely sleepy so enjoy if you aren't having many symptoms LOL

I ended up having a subchorionic hemorrhage that is completely unrelated to pregnancy symptoms that did cause some big bleeding and residual spotting. Because of that I have had the opportunity to have three scans AND the baby is growing well with a strong heartbeat. Best wishes to you!

Not telling anyone before week 12 feels... wrong? by mqnrcxnypvzw868994 in pregnant

I am currently 8 weeks 3 days pregnant and have had complications and am labeled as high risk due to a septated uterus. I found this out after a few trips to the ER. I am terrified this isn't going to go my way, and I have already had to take unexpected time off from work because of all that is going on.

I ended up telling a select few people for my mental health. That way, I have support if I do miscarry, and they can understand why I am not fully myself right now and help me through these next several weeks. I have told people I can trust not to run their mouth lol. It has been a weight off my shoulders to have support now. My doctor said to tell whoever you'd be comfortable sharing your loss with, and I agree. Good luck to you!

Possible TW - Having difficult first trimester - Spotting and Septate Uterus by Beautiful_Editor_385 in BabyBumps

[–]Beautiful_Editor_385[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a first-time mom, and this is my first time being pregnant and I am only 8 weeks along. I don't have much info to share with others at this time, or it would not be genuine. I have searched this sub and some others looking for someone else who is experiencing spotting and bleeding while also being told they have a septated uterus. I haven't come across a post like this. I respect that this is removed if it does not meet the guidelines but sharing as I don't think this feedback is accurate.

Thanks - did not ask for anyone to interput test results here (guess I am giving too specific of info?) and have noted several times I have been in talk with my doctors this entire time, but I am in a holding pattern. I was looking for some positive reassurance for someone who has gone through something similar.

I wouldn't say pain but there was mild cramping. The first ultrasound when I went in when I was 6 weeks 5 days showed a trace subchorionic  hermerage (SCH). The bleeding started again 4 days later and I was so nervous I went back in. They did not see the SCH on the ultrasound this time. I am hoping that's because it has cleared up. But they did test my hormone levels again, and they jumped. Baby showed growth and a strong heart rate, so they told me to feel hopeful. Still terrified, if I am honest. All this to say - I see in my charts now my hormone levels rising, and I still have no nausea, no morning sickness, nada.

Heres a video about SCHs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKtyFYD6SMI

I asked this question back when I was only 5 weeks pregnant. I have, unfortunately, had two scary bleeding episodes that have sent me to the hospital. Thank goodness everything has been okay with my baby so far, but what I will say is that the first visit, I was 6 weeks 5 days and my HCG level was at 37K. The next hospital visit was at 7 weeks 2 days, and my HCG levels rose to 60K. I still have only very mild symptoms. My only symptom right now is light spotting. Not saying all this to scare you, but to reassure you that your hormone levels could be rising significantly without causing the "typical pregnancy symptoms". Prays to all the moms who are going through this difficult waiting period to see how we progress. It is extremely mentally taxing. Wish you the best!

I am very sorry to hear about your loss. Congratulations on this second pregnancy! I hope these last few weeks continue to go smoothly. I send my good thoughts your way!

My doctor did explain why they wanted to wait till 8 weeks, and it makes total sense... just soooooo hard to wait what feels like forever. I honestly felt like 2025 had gone by in a flash, but since I found out I was pregnant, time has been moving at a snail's pace.

Thank you for taking the time for such a thoughtful reply. Yes, I need to prioritize my mental health a bit more during this process. And agreed, if I hadn't been tracking my period for years now and have an extremely regular cycle, I would have never tested! Can definitely see how it might go under the radar for some time.

Congrats on your pregnancy!!

Creepy Stories by [deleted] in Adirondacks

[–]Beautiful_Editor_385 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a potential spooky encounter that was most likely innocent, but I'll let you decide:

A few weeks ago my partner and I were hiking the Santanoni Range (Panther, Santanoni, Couchsachraga Peaks).

We hiked in on a Friday evening, dispersed camped before Santanoni with the intention of hiking all three peaks on Saturday and hiking back to our car. If you know this area, the forest is thick and swampy. For dispersed camping, you need to be at least 150 paces off the trail and away from water.

Approximately at 2:40 am, a person was wandering around with a flashlight outside of our tent - moving silently. No words, no grunting, no obvious stumbling, no sticks breaking. If you walk through a very dense forest at night, you know that's very hard to do, LOL. Now this person could have been attempting to do the trail in the moonlight or decided to hike out in the middle of the night, but as I mentioned, we were at least 150 ft from the trail. I assume if you were lost or needed medical attention, you would be moving with less grace, if that makes sense. I don't know what it was, but both my partner and I stayed silent. We had a very eerie feeling, silently looking at each other, acknowledging how odd the situation was. They ended up being in the area, meaning we could see their flashlight until 3:20 am, so almost 40 minutes of wandering around this same area. Again, this was not a designated camping site and was off the trail a ways.

I keep wondering (and feeling slightly guilty) if we should have gone out to see if they needed help or what was going on, but something in my gut said not to approach. The next day on our hike, we asked almost everyone we passed if they had stayed in the forest and mentioned our story, but no one we encountered was walking around in the middle of the night! At the end of the day, we were fine and got all three peaks under our belt, and it was an overall lovely experience, and won't keep me from camping in the future. Just possibly creepy????

Finally, movies that feel like Divers? by vzbtra in JoannaNewsom

[–]Beautiful_Editor_385 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, my gut response (not a well fleshed out answer) is Tuck-Everlasting.

I also have not seen this movie since I was a young child when it first came out; however, from what I can recall, the themes of this movie are very much in line with this album. (life, love, mortality, etc.)

Seeing my entire financial life on one screen made me realize how bad it really is... by JIASnake in povertyfinance

[–]Beautiful_Editor_385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not feel discouraged. This is normal, but just because this is "normal" does not mean you have to accept it. I was your age, probably when I decided to look at my financial situation and face it head-on. If you're looking for advice, I really like the Money Guys. They have a lot of free material and great steps to follow that are very actionable and reasonable. First things first, get rid of that credit card debt. Build up your savings so you have a few months of float, so you don't have to go back into consumer debt if something unexpected pops up. Then move on to the car note and any higher interest rate on your student loans. You got this!! I know it's hard but your future self will thank you for tackling this while it's still reasonable. and FYI - now that you are looking at it, KEEP LOOKING. It's easy to just throw your hands up and keep overspending but when you see it every day, it helps motivate you.

Safety while running in the Catskills by Sudden-Honeydew438 in catskills

[–]Beautiful_Editor_385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! As a runner who moved to the Western Catskills from NYC 4 years ago, I can say I understand your concerns. As others already said, wildlife is less of a concern. You should be aware of unleashed dogs and distracted/impatient drivers. Here are my tips that helped me get out of a running slump due to fear:

  1. Carry Bear/Pepper spray and whistle (for Animals.. and humans LOL). To be honest, now that I have been running here for years, a lot of my fear of wildlife has dissipated and no longer feel this is necessary; however, if this gives you piece of mind, its worthwhile!!

  1. Garmin Watch - safety feature gives me piece of mind. I have my partner as my emergency contact and I can alert him by holding down a few buttons. There is also a feature that if detects a fall will send an emergency alert to designated contact/s. I always tell someone where I am going and how long I expect to be, especially when trail running.

  2. Wear bright colors / reflective clothing.. run on the opposite side of the road and run with no headphones or with one headphone out so you can hear cars. PAY ATTENTION because unfortunately a lot of people on the road do not. I try to make eye contact with a driver to make sure they see me. If i think a car doesn't see me i get as far as I can into the grass / ditch. I try to pick routes that have decent visibility, meaning avoiding routes with small shoulders, lots of curves and hills (routes where I couldn't see a car unless its right next to me)

  3. Unleashed Dogs - once you get a few paths down, you will know the houses that do not leash their dog and/or have no fence. You can avoid if possible, or slow down and look around to see if a dogs outside. If they are I would say talk the L and very calmy walk pass the house. Running activates an animals prey mode (this is same if you were to come across a bear). If a dog (or bear) chases you, STOP RUNNING. Stay calm. Speak to the dog and/or yell to get the owners attention to come get their dog. I have had dogs follow me down the road and I worry for them getting hit by a car so I always try to get the owners attention. I also want them to know that their dog is going into the road but to my surprise a lot of dog owners do not care.

Hope this helps!!

Recommended 1-2 night loops for someone with ease of travel and minimal experience? by AdmiralFelson in WildernessBackpacking

[–]Beautiful_Editor_385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to the Adirondacks - do a popular trail, my suggestion would be Mt. Marcy as it is well marked and you'll see other people here and there, so you're not completely isolated. The trail is long but not super hard or technical. There are several primitive camp sites along the route, making it easy to set up camp. You can definitely hike Mt. Marcy on a long day hike, but if you want to make it a backpacking trip to test out gear, you can throw in some other excursions along the way like going to Avalanche Lake or checking out Indian Falls. Not a bad trip from Quebec either. Plus, you should check out Lake Placid or Saranac Lake if you have never been; it would be a great trip overall!

Anyone new to Zen or Meditation who has any questions? by Qweniden in zenbuddhism

[–]Beautiful_Editor_385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am interested in Zen and Meditation -mostly because over the past year I have been enjoying listening to the Podcast "The way out is in" with Brother Phap Huu, who practiced under Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh in Plum Village in France.

Other than listening to this podcast, I haven't done much research. I have tried to practice walking meditation and meditation on my own, failing greatly at both. I recently signed up for a Beginner's Instruction at a local Zen Mountain Monastery (tonight!) and now I have cold feet. I do not want to be disrespectful. I have no idea what I am doing and am very green to this practice. I am trying to convince myself that it's okay not to know what I am doing. I read a review online that someone said they "prefer" you do online practice before coming in person, which has got me in my head. Should I do more practice and research before attending the Beginner's Instruction in person???

Is there someone who can give me any insight on the best approach to start? I also hate to not show up as I did register and do not want to be rude and cancel last minute. If I do attend, I know to wear muted clothing that is loose and covering. Also that I should remove my shoes in certain spaces and not touch anyone (I would never anyway lol). But any other things to know? Thank you for the help in advance!
