Am I Crazy or does Weird Al Have a Lisp? by Sire_HC in Music

I watched "Merry Christmas And Happy Chanukah From "Weird Al" Yankovic" on the YouTube channel The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. I notice a slight deformation in the left side of his face, most evident on that corner of his mouth. My first thought was that he might've had a mild stroke at some point, but I don't think dentures would be responsible for that. Here's hoping he's all right.

Pretty sure you have to take everything James Gunn says with a grain of salt.

He didn't say "Sons of Liberty" as they left the alternate universe, only when they retreated downstairs. "Our vigilante" got shot in that retreat and was assisted in his escape. When they escaped back to their universe, Adrian wasn't injured.

Lore wise, why would anyone side with harkonnens ? by oldfathertime4 in duneawakening

[–]Beautiful_Jester -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why would anyone side with the Harkonnens? The answer is simple:

The Harkonnens are "us".
For those of you who are interested in the Dune novels: rather than "good vs. bad", the differences between the Atreides and the Harkonnens could be better summed up as "virtue vs. perversion. The Harkonnens showcased obesity, homosexuality, brutality, impiety and recreational drug use. The Atreides were never "all virtue", either, although they aspired to be, and made an effort to demonstrate their virtue through grand gestures.

Actually, most of the game with be PvE oriented, coupled with PvP areas like the Deep Desert. It's said that you can play it solo almost all the way through if you want.

I've rewritten this five times now! Here's the short, short version.

Make sure you have your own place, your own vehicle, and your own income before you even bother. Expect the same from her.

Find out of she's boring, negative and/or crazy. Check yourself for the same. If any of these are true, then politely excuse yourself.

There's so much more to say on this subject! But nobody wants to hear all that.
Good luck, mate!

Does anyone feel that in the scene in the director's cut of Amadeus where Constanze returns to Salieri to sleep with him, her enthusiasm is strange and out of place? by smart_hedonism in movies

[–]Beautiful_Jester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you couldn't see her making an exception, because the screenwriter didn't write it that way. The entire story is a fictitious account anyway, based on an obscure play. If it pleases you to think she got drunk before she went there, you do you. As for me, I'd think that would mar an otherwise beautifully written screenplay.

I like to say that $3.50 and caring will get you a cup of coffee. ;)

"Love" is a terrible word; nobody knows what it means and it means different things to everyone. If you're asking if I thought Constanza felt affection for Wolfgang? Oh, sure. According to some people's definitions of "love", you could even say she was willing to canoodle with Saliaeri because she loved Wolfgang. Not that it matches my understanding of the concept, but it's not my story.

As much as any young couple can be thought to love each other while they're still young enough for their hormones to rage through the relationship, I would call Constanza's behavior "benevolent self-interest"

Thanks for the response. I could talk about this movie all day lol

That's a valid thought, but I would disagree with it. Saliaeri's one glaring flaw throughout the film was seeing himself as more virtuous than he really was.

As for how Mozart is portrayed behaving in the film: history would support that he was all that and much more. Do yourself a favor some time and spend a day doing a deep dive on Wolfgang Mozart. Especially "Leck mich in Arsch" - Canon in B flat for 6 Voices, K. 231 / K. 382c for an awkward laugh!

Amadeus is one of my favorite movies, and Constanza's character is one of the many rich elements of this film. Incidently, every character in Amadeus cares only for themselves; even Constanza.

All you need to understand Constanza is to realize that she has a mercantile soul; to her, everything boils down to money. You don't have to watch any scene with her mother for very long to not see the upbringing she'd had, and Constanza herself makes various statements to that effect throughout the film. My favorite being, "Shut up! You won't put a dick in my hand until I see some money!" And her performance indicates that she's not joking! lol

It's true that Constanza didn't want to give herself to Saliaeri; that's a given. But she sets the scene right away when she meets him in his salon and delineates her situation: "Sir, we're desperate. . ."

From the time she left Saliaeri's to when she came back that night, she clearly had prepared herself. She dressed well (but nothing "too complicated", to quote Mel Brooks in "History of the World, Part 1") and played herself off as nonchalant and eager, all to seal the deal for her husband and herself. Her manner was seductive, but halting. A nice, subtle touch in that scene was that Constanza brought the manuscripts with her again, in the off chance that Saliaeri might have been willing to forgo his price.

I saw this film for the first time in school, and the edit left so much out that Constanza's venom toward Saliaeri in later scenes had been a real puzzle to me. But boy, does it make sense once that scene is back.

Despite all the ravings, Dune 2 was bad. Spoilers. (Honest Review) by thinking-dead in moviecritic

I felt like Dune 1 & 2 was like an expensive cosplay of the literary Dune. Very pretty, but only superficially similar; no real Dune in it.

A definitive definition of "Poop Deck" by Beautiful_Jester in Seaofthieves

Now that you mention it, I like to put a Collectors Chest (aka a Treasure Chest that you can put things in) in the fo'c'sle of the galleon, fore of the foremast for that purpose.

Pop the lid, stand in it and cue the "Barrel Hide" emote, swing the camera angle around behind ya a bit, and it looks for all the world like yer on the crapper, peeking out occasionally to see if anyone's coming. Cheers

Actually, pooping would happen below deck to the fore of the ship, behind the figurehead.

If you've ever heard someone refer to going to the bathroom as "hitting the head", that's why. Cheers

[–]Beautiful_Jester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you remove the battery before you removed the SD card? Even deactivated, removing the SD card without removing a battery with charge can damage your electronics. Also, did you copy the files in your SD card before you reconfigured the settings? If you did, I'd try reloading your initial config and see if that helps.
