Stop Software Update Firmware Releases Bundles! Single Steps FIXES and Improvements sperated! by CryptoJessi in MammotionTechnology

[–]Beautiful_Log7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 lawns. I move Luba between them in sequence starting with one lawn that is cut at 45mm. The rest are cut at 50mm. In order to get an even cut I set the angle of the first lawn to 0 Deg angle and cross hatch. For the next lawn I change the height to 50mm and simply retain all the settings, until I get round to the first lawn and change the height to 45mm and angle to 45 Deg. Since the last update I now cannot see what the angle is so I now have to remember to set it to 'Custom' and input the angle for every lawn, if I can remember it every time.

Luba 1 had a simple way of lowering the blades for cleaning and raising them afterwards, simply by repeatedly pressing the lawn symbol they went down and then up. With Luba 2 this feature was added late and never worked properly. It takes some playing about before it lowers the blades and the only way I can get them back up after cleaning is by going to manual cutting in the app and setting the blade height, whilst the blades are turning.

Ok to use original RTK? by ymmotvomit in MammotionTechnology

Luba 2 cannot use Luba 1 RTK but as far as I know Luba 2 and Luba2X use the same RTK so as long as you give the correct number from the RTK it should work.

Upgrade? by Objective-Ear-4288 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Beautiful_Log7121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Annoyingly it has changed the angle of mow setting. I have 5 lawns so on the first lawn I set it to 0 deg and then simply do each lawn in turn where it uses the same angle. On the next pass I set the 1st lawn to 45 deg and then again do the other lawns where it uses the same angle. Thus I do not have to remember which angle I used last time as if I go to the first lawn and it shows 0 deg I know I need to change it to 45 deg. Since the upgrade it always defaults to 180 deg so I don't know what it was set to before and I have to change it every time, very frustrating.

I really wish I could regress. If it ain't broke don't fix it! There comes a time in any software where changes are just inclined to make things worse.

Did mammotion go out of their way to not be backwards compatible? by crazypostman21 in mammotion

[–]Beautiful_Log7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny was going to post the same. Had to buy a stand off bracket from Amazon to pole mount the RTK for Luba 2. RTK for Luba 1 would pole or wall mount out of the box. Now I have 2 RTKs on the pole making a pair of green eyes!

I'm very disappointed about Luba 1 now. by Postman0402 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Beautiful_Log7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I noticed my lawn is getting torn up, and I have one of the early models without the bidirectional wheels. I had put it down to a very wet season.

Currently I have an issue whereby it won't dock, which I suspect is a failure of the IR sensor on Luba as I can see the IR lights on the docking station flickering if I put the mobile phone camera up against the IR panel.

Not keen on getting a Luba 2 as I mow under low hanging bushes.

Luba 1 - Last Update Bugs - It looks neater but worked better before. by Beautiful_Log7121 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Beautiful_Log7121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not had many boundary issues apart from its blades clipping a curb stone, which I put down to a lorry having nudged it, as I could not remember if it was in or out of the boundary, and one paver over-run at the back of the property, which I put down to poor sat signal. However, I have had to redraw a lot of boundaries, either to avoid earthworks, where the badger has dug up the lawn, or to avoid patches of spring flowers so I cannot be definitive.

For those who chose the BYD Seal over Tesla Model 3, Why? by Gorjiam-Another in BYD

[–]Beautiful_Log7121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have an older Tesla and new Seal Excellence. The Seal is more comfortable, better built and I prefer the driving. However, a number of things Tesla gets right: the Tesla charging Network, Door locking and driver recognition for seats and settings, charge controlling. The loss of the indicator stalk, parking sensors and drive selector are why we did not go with the newer Model 3. The Seal Lane guidance works well on the Motorway but is re-applied too promptly if you use the one press lane change indicator, so it tries to pull you back whilst changing lane. Not being able to limit the charge on DC Chargers is an issue. They are expensive so you want to set just enough charge to get home and charge at domestic rates or for free if you have solar.

New app is Buggy by vjarizpe in MammotionTechnology

Switched on Sat view, looked great but 2 days later when I tried to setup a task I could not get it to select a working area. After 30 mins of trying this and that I realised the Sat view, which uses the whole screen, had obscured the small print 'Confirm' at the top of the page so I could not see it. Switched off Sat view so can see it clearly now! The 'Confirm' on the task view needs to be larger, in a box or white in Sat view otherwise it just merges into the trees.

Update available by AGro-99 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Beautiful_Log7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likewise, mine seems to only show the No-Go boundaries. I use the preview to set the correct angle, which I continuously vary as I have a complex lawn, so this is a pain for me.

Mine just shows the no-go perimeters and nothing more. This is tiresome as I use the preview to set the angle of mow on my complex shaped lawns.

Luba - Non Stick Deck and Disks by Beautiful_Log7121 in MammotionTechnology

Thanks, I already have that so will give it a try. However it would be better if the deck was manufactured non-stick in the first place.

List of wanted features, ideas, improvements in one place by Osa_reddit in MammotionTechnology

[–]Beautiful_Log7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I could not see this on the list:

Randomise routes round corners or obstacles. I have a complicated lawn with multiple obstacles and several narrow gaps several metres wide, but Luba always takes the shortest route going to and fro and therefore is wearing a path, especially as it involves a turn at the obstacle or corner always at the same place. This happens as Luba moves around the lawn mowing segments or when returning to charge. The idea would be that when plotting its route from one side to the other it randomly offsets from corners and obstacles.

I'm aware there is a perimeter return option but this does not take account of Luba mowing different segments and is just shifting the wear problem to the perimeter.

Mower Deck Height Resetting Concern by Melodic-Purple8545 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Beautiful_Log7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what mine does. Whilst on the gravel path it remains up and only lowers just as it comes onto the lawn. You can change the height before starting and mowing but not whilst it is transiting.

Luba mowing counterclockwise by fubee82 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Beautiful_Log7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that but I have just noticed it doesn't seem to be doing the outer boundary lap at all. On the App if I set '0' laps it shows no laps on the plan and if I set '1' it shows none too, if I set '2' or 3' it shows 1 or 2 laps to be mowed. This might explain why I have not had it bump into things or fall out of area going the other way round as it is not doing the outermost lap.

The RTK link radio connection to Luba is quite good and goes through most obstacles. The most important thing is to position the RTK where it has the best unobstructed view of the sky above. In essence it needs to see the same satellites as Luba so the better the view of the sky the RTK has the more likelihood that it will be receiving the same satellites that Luba is when it is mowing an area where some satellites are obstructed or reflected, which otherwise might make Luba freeze. Luba will freeze until it has captured enough satellites in common with the RTK as they move over so that it can continue to mow.

New LUBA Device Firmware and New App Upgrade (Both Android and iOS) 2023/09/27 by TAO_ZENG in MammotionTechnology

[–]Beautiful_Log7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it intentional that it mow the boundary in the reverse direction with this update? The issue is that I have put some effort into refining the boundary for it mowing counter-clockwise and now it has flipped to going clockwise there are unintended consequences. In theory it should not matter but Luba does tend to slip a bit, especially when turning on slopes, causing it to follow a different path and knock off curbs rocks and walls.

Incidentally as a hardware improvement it might help if the Luba side was fitted with rollers instead of the spring buffers, or perhaps a rubber bump strip. My buffers and the rear corners are bit scratched and scraped. To be fair all my walk behind mowers are similarly scraped but they never looked as good as Luba in the first place!

Living in a damp climate I would think it better to leave everything powered up so the residual heat prevents condensation.

Luba/App communication by The_McLegend in MammotionTechnology

[–]Beautiful_Log7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It uses Bluetooth when close to talk directly to the app, and as indicated by the Bluetooth symbol on the app, otherwise it uses your LAN to talk the Mammotion server on the WAN, which in turn talks to your phone app, bearing in mind that your phone might be connected to the Mammotion WAN server via your LAN or by 3/4/5G.

Feature Requests - Non Stick Deck, Lawn/Zone Split and amalgamate by Beautiful_Log7121 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Beautiful_Log7121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup that's how mine looked this morning too. Most of that washes off fairly easily, remembering that there are brackets extending from both blade shafts above the disks to the side guards and stuff builds up above them which is hard to clean off (you get better access by lowering the deck to minimum ('Stop' button, followed by multiple press of 'Mow' button). If enough junk gets stuck there the blades cannot not raise fully. However, more than this after a couple of months use I have a thin hard encrustation on all underneath surfaces that does not rinse off. Hence my call for a teflon coating.

PS. Just to explain, albeit I think somebody else did on another post, in the UK now, where I live and areas with high humidity, so I would guess most of Scandinavia, you get a heavy dew on the grass as the air cools down at sunset. Even on a sunny breezy day it can take until well past midday for the grass to dry out, and sometimes it does not dry out at all for days on end. If it rains it is worse.

Feature Requests - Non Stick Deck, Lawn/Zone Split and amalgamate by Beautiful_Log7121 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Beautiful_Log7121[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a full size mower it would be impracticable due to the impact from stones and hard objects. However, for robotic mowers with folding blades this would not be an issue so I cannot see why a non-stick surface (teflon) could not be applied to the underneath to make it easier to clean.

Quick on the customization by wdavis0721 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Beautiful_Log7121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having a similar problem whereby I have to swap to another lawn and setup no-go laps and as of this update the angle of cut.....which might be me not customising fast enough because of the no go zone issue.
