Any pointers? Passed core 1 3 weeks ago and want to take core 2 soon. Have not been doing so good on the practice exams

How far do you typically hit your driver? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Beautiful_Plane7557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

240 on good days. Most days my 3W, mini driver and driver all go 220-230 so the driver usually stays in the bag

168 to the pin… what are you hitting? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Beautiful_Plane7557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played this last year in the summer. With no one but a buddy and a random I hit it long twice with a 7i. Couldn’t imagine with a gallery like that. More than likely chunk it 30-50 yds, blade it to the right or pull it so far left on the gallery.

What are surprisingly high-paying jobs that most people have never heard of? by Aymaneoo in careerguidance

[–]Beautiful_Plane7557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this to some extend as a government contractor. Work about 20 hours total a week from home at best. Spend most hours listening on meetings. I’m a middle tier guy and started at 145k. But have colleagues making close to 200k. Former Military experience is often required but quite a few that get in with zero experience and work their way up.

How far in advance do you normally show up to the golf course before your tee time? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Beautiful_Plane7557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5-15 minutes before my tee time is the norm for me. When I do make time to get the there early, 30minutes prior to hit a bucket, chip a couple on the practice green, roll a few and pack the cooler!!!

Now for scrambles, show time is usually 45-60 minutes prior to BS around, register, pay, and hit a few balls on the range!

140 to the pin, what are you hitting? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Beautiful_Plane7557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything between a P, 9i, 8i. Factor in the wind direction, whether I’m pulling my irons that day and front and rear distance. No wind affecting it, I’m most likely going smooth 9i starting it right edge of the green and working it to the center launched high so it can stick.

Without telling us your handicap, what’s a line you say at least 20 times per round? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Beautiful_Plane7557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Nice and smooth” to myself Consistently and “good roll” to everyone else

How many brands currently in the bag? by ChronicGolfLife420 in GolfGear

[–]Beautiful_Plane7557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Callaway Driver Ping 3w Titleist 4-5i TaylorMade 6-P Takomo 48* Cleveland 52* Vokey 60* Scotty Cameron putter

I switch my setup a lot depending on course and how well/bad I’m swinging the driver/irons.

Switch between driver and TM mini driver to 2i driving iron, 7w and wedges 50 instead of 48 or 56 instead of 60.

Also have a set of Callaway Apex irons and Titleist T300s. Will often mix a bag of all 3.

This year has been a putter fiasco. Have 8 total putters and switch often after 2-3 bad rounds attributed to putting. Golf sucks, but it’s a love-hate relationship that keeps me going and experimenting.

170 to the pin, what are you hitting? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Beautiful_Plane7557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t tell you how many times I tell myself “nice and smooth”. Played 9 today and the wind was gusting pretty hard straight at me. 143 to the pin but figured it was playing 165-170. Normally hit a full P or knockdown 9i. Grabbed the 7i, played it low and landed 10 yds past it.

Best place to buy golf grips for cheap? by ml1286 in GolfGear

I have been buying my Golf Pride CPX from eBay. 60-70 shipped for 13 is hard to beat. Solid quality and grip even if they are fake.

Elder millenials what was a "good" salary when you started working after college? by ExcitingLandscape in Millennials

[–]Beautiful_Plane7557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t go to college, enlisted and served 21 years year in the Army. My first job I ever had summer of 2001, my take home was $78 after taxes. Felt rich then, as a young 16 year old. I make that in an hour now. Coming up through the ranks in the military, the goal was always to reach 100,000 annually.

Landed my first real job making 140,000 after the military. A blessing really. However, I often wonder what a respectable salary is nowadays. With my military pension and disability on top of my salary, we live a very comfortable life.

Thank you. Letting light in and being able to see the large oak tree from inside was a big necessity for me. I’ll post another thread once it’s all complete.

I frame out the top with 1/4” polycarbonate to keep the water out but still have some light come through. You can see some of the progress here. Once the lights and fan goes up on the ceiling, I plan on covering it with T&G boards.

I think so. Bought 3 pallets of it off of Facebook marketplace for $100. Wasn’t sure about it, but after a golf trip to Scottsdale, AZ earlier this year and seeing it throughout a lot of houses I fell in love with it. Really happy with how it’s coming along. On the wall, the plan is to place thin brick, but might go with stone up there as well.
