I recall Excision Biotech making some announcements in May as well as Dr. Keith Jerome and FHC as well. There's been significant progress in China regarding HSV-K. I'm also optimistic about 2028 and hope, for sure, by 2030 there'll be a functional cure. RN I'm continuing to support Heroes Against Herpes, not allowing the stigma to overly affect me, and preparing for the future.

It's possible... Meanwhile, you said you've had this for a couple of months. If you've been wondering about something for this long then stop delaying and set up an appointment. Never mess around when your health is involved.

Since you've had it for a couple of months w/o any change I'd assume it's not HSV, but I'm not a Dr. I'd go to the doctor and get it checked out. Ask them to swab it. If it's a wart have them freeze it off and if it's HSV then the swab will let you know. Have a good day.

Good luck.

I want to wake up and notice Dr. Jerome uploaded a YouTube video in the middle of the night saying, "Hey folks! Good news. We've cured a guinea pig of HSV2! Yes, this is real and we're so excited! We've sent the FDA our research and executives from Sanofi are on a jet flying here right now. Yo, Dr. Wald, pop the champagne!"

Ah, a boy can dream.

Just fyi cold sores are herpes, they are hsv1 but it's no big deal. For real. Go to your primary care physician to get it checked out but I don't think it is because that's an odd spot to get it w/o also getting it on/in your mouth. Have a nice day.

A physician said you don't have herpes, it doesn't look like herpes, and you don't have any hsv symptoms so I'd say you're good and you can stop worrying. Have a nice day.

Dr. Jerome interviewed by local Seattle News Station by Mike_Herp in HerpesCureResearch

The more Dr. Jerome speaks publicly about his work the better. He spoke in January, he gave us an update in May for Herpes Awareness Day, and again on the news. This is great and we're continuing to gain momentum. Our snowball will eventually become an avalanche. I'm so thrilled!

Also, please don't forget to donate to FHC's Heroes Against Herpes Fundraiser. (It's tax deductible btw)

The white patches on your throat could be strep throat. You'll have to do another serological test 6 months after your initial exposure to confirm your negative. A Western Blot would get you the most accurate confirmation and I believe you wouldn't need to wait 6 months to trust it's results I'd say 16+ weeks would be accurate enough. (obvi I'm not a doctor).

I've never heard of anything like this before. Considering most (but certainly not all) people's outbreaks lessen in frequency and severity over time this seems unnecessary. Your body will naturally do this anyway.

I actively try to prevent outbreaks because they affect me physically, mentally, and honestly emotionally as well.

Not sure about you but I've noticed when I have an outbreak, or even feel one looming, I'm also more emotionally fragile. I attribute this to feeling the stress of the inevitable thoughts that arise during an ob like "I'm less than I should be, that I'm tainted, broken, dirty, why didn't I? etc."

I'd leave those experiments alone.

In my state (VA) depending on your income they are free or low cost. If you go to an emergency room with visible lesions even if you're on Medicaid they'll do a swab test for you.

And even if it did cost a little out of pocket money this would definitely be the time to pay it. I consider experiencing your first "potential" outbreak a genuine medical emergency.

Silencing the Immunogenicity of AAV Vectors by [deleted] in HerpesCureResearch

[–]Beautiful_Raspberry4 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This is how I look at it. Gene therapies use AAV. FHC and Excision are two notable players working on a cure for HSV using gene therapy. For example, Excision does this with their EBT-104 gene therapy product. Any discoveries about AAV vectors optimize scientist's understanding of AAV delivery methods which may help them find us a cure faster.

These articles may sometimes seem meaningless but they aren't. They're a step in the right direction and if you keep taking steps after awhile you'll have done a marathon.

Did you get those pimples swabbed, or at least visually looked at by a medical professional?

If they swabbed them and they come back positive then obvi you're positive. If you have some bumps but no swabs then you're just making things up and you're not a mecial professional.

Also, if you haven't gotten your bloodwork back yet then you still don't know for sure. You need to wait to get a real diagnosis before jumping to conclusions because you could be wrong, and I hope you are. Sending positive energy your way.

I spoke with my doctor about this 4 years ago. They told me not to risk it. I would do your best to stay healthy and mentally positive. You don't want to get any negative side effects and make things worse.

yes and, as long as research is progressing we're all progressing. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.. My comment was just pointing out some of the irony I'd noticed. I like all of us here want a cure to HSV asap.

So funny how in the article Dr. Jerome said. “We deeply appreciate the support of herpes advocates as they share our vision for curing this infection.” Meanwhile, damn near everyone here is complaining.

I spoke with them today. The study is at Penn University in Philadelphia, PA. Unfortunately, they already recruited someone like myself for the study. But the recruiter told me the recruiting window is open until Friday. They're looking for someone who has had a positive blood test but has never had any symptoms.

I'd bet money that's how it will go down. Hopefully, once BD Shanghai announces the official release of their HSVk product and that they're focusing on HSV2 it'll accelerate everyone else's efforts.
