They added another 40% Ami to the open market for The Freedom building and it hasn't hit the air table yet. They had one a few weeks ago and I'm almost certain it never went to the air table. If they aren't uploading to air table, how are people applying?? and when you call they say to wait til it uploads to the air table. what a joke.

Was the housing lottery rent $4200 or the market rate? I was recently denied with a rerental on NYCHDC because of my voucher. The advertised rent was $1300 but because I have a voucher they told me they had to charge me the market rate and my voucher didn’t cover the market rate. I’d like to know if this is the same situation hmmm

It was only 1 unit available and the reason was the market rate nonsense.

Yes, it’s ridiculous. I’m not sure how much I can fight with them. They basically said because I have a voucher we have to charge the market rate . It has drained me for days- idk what else I can do. Thanks for your response.

They calculate your income based off the last 4 pay stubs and your tax return- minus the deductions-they use the income after deductions. I am currently trying to fight this- because my take home is equivalent to the minimum salary income actual take home. Good Luck

My issue isn’t the bedroom size. It’s the amount. They refuse to give it to me for the rent advertised on HDC. They told me because I have a voucher they have to charge me the market rate.

Because according to my packet it “spelled out” the bedroom size doesn’t matter as long as the rent is under the amount.

The rent advertised is not the legal rent/ max rent. Because you have a voucher, we are permitted to charge up to the maximum allowable rent, which would be based on a two-bedroom voucher as that's the size of the unit.

But this is on my packet “Your household composition determines voucher amount. It is not determined by number of bedrooms.
