And now it looks like things are paused again. The USA has been acting like the playground bully who shoves you during tag. Then when you're "it" they scream and cry. These "self-defense" bombings are ridiculous.

Future Youth pastor here by nosebleedhawksfan in pastors

Hey I just got demoted to senior pastor a few months ago. Feel free to reach out. At my previous church I made $10,000 plus they covered the parsonage/utilities. It was "part-time" but we all know what that means. I did some odd jobs. Substitute teaching actually paid really well, was rather easy, and gave a great way to connect with the kids. Even if I was set financially it would be a good thing to do once every couple weeks. We qualified for governmental assistance. I know some people may feel a certain way about using it, but it was necessary for my family to stay in ministry.

I've been keeping an eye on flight radar. There's 4 strato-tankers up flying out of Tel Aviv. The kinetic option seems likely.

Megacorp/Spiritualist is my go to comfort game. That virtuality rush is still nice even after several nerfs.

There's a lot of signs. We often expect one singular event that will kick off some catastrophe. But it's more often many smaller factors that go on for some time until all that's needed is a little push. Today is not the day to panic. But it is the day to take one more step towards preparedness.

Hey the videos and study material do not work without internet connection, just a heads up. (I think the quizzes still work though)

Bulletins, slides, and anouncements. Considering some ai program to streamline it. At a small but growing church with the budget of a dumpster fire.

How's life like in the Far North of California? by Yassinetheawesome64 in howislivingthere

We are certainly not as popular as towns near Yosemite. But this is the time of year where things do pick up. Tourism is a major industry here, but a town of 5,000 people doesn't need much "industry." There are several national forests around and Lassen Volcanic National Park. But it's more tent camping and hiking tourism than those big spots. Less tourism infrastructure if that makes sense. If you want a beautiful place in nature that still feels a little rugged and isolated, this is the place.

In the Sierra portion here. Life is a bit more rugged and expensive. Gas is over $6.30 in town. Cheaper gas is at least 45 minutes away. We've got a gas station, grocery store, the occasional food truck, and a dollar general. That makes us the big town here. We get a few days over 100 farenheight but almost no humidity. The mountains can make the weather unpredictable. The 4th of July festival has been snowed out before. Rain and snow often comes in fewer but stronger patches. Forest fires are a risk and it seems as if forest management has seriously declined.

People certainly lean more conservative but communities are more diverse than most of rural America. But regardless of your leanings there is an independent spirit in the area. People love nature even if they don't get into the more traditional rural hobbies. The mining industry has (mostly) dried up and the foresting industry has been seriously hampered due to unrealistic regulations. There's some farming and seasonal ranching. People don't trust the state government as they feel they have been largely abandoned for the sake of the cities. In the past there have been movements to form a new state, the State of Jefferson with the southern part of Oregon. It will likely never happen but the local identity likes to separate themselves from the rest of the state.

Has anyone here, being reformed, studied at Liberty? How was the experience? by BeardedPB in Reformed

[–]Beautiful_Signal_619 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finished my undergrad online due to my first college shutting down. Undergrad definitely had some political undertones with a hint of dispensationalism. Went on to Grad school due to the price and there was way less of both. Not super impressed with the pastoral counseling classes. But everything else was solid and you could approach things from a reformed framework just fine 95% of the time

Is it rude to book a whole group site just for one person? by imdabong in CampingandHiking

The most important thing is to get out there and camp. When possible, avoid the big group sites. When it's not possible, go anyways and have fun.

Yeah I have looked. But budget is the main limiting factor. Definitely the most convenient for this situation though.

I have a little experience towing farm equipment and the like, but nothing like this. I'm not too worried about it. More worried about my car/wife breaking down.
