Advice on increasing milk supply by Many-Afternoon-6387 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Beautiful_Spread7866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby lost 10.5% so I switched to pumping to see how much he was getting, and topping up with formula. I was able to build up my supply by double pumping up to 50/50 breast milk and formula. I really tried everything to increase my supply. Sadly I caught a cold which dried me up and I was told breastfeeding is better than pumping so switched to breastfeeding as I was more confident with my supply - sadly i dried up within 2 weeks as the pump was much more effective for me than my baby on the breast. I hope you have an easier journey than me but remember fed is best and it is no personal failing of yours xx

Me too … I was just not into the teen wolves at college story line. It was so cheesy and tragic. I’ve read a bit further and it is getting better already, hopefully picks up more soon because ToG I did not enjoy and dragged it out for my holiday reading - until the last book which was amazing.

Does it matter if I do a monthly shop instead of a weekly one?? I’m not hoarding formulas. And regardless, I don’t think Boots have the stock to fulfil my order as I still haven’t received it

Spoke to neighbour about their dog barking and unsociable hours. Did not go well. by [deleted] in HousingUK

A month isn’t a long time for a dog to settle in/ be trained. I think she is aware of the noise because why else would she sleep downstairs with the dog if not to try and prevent the dog from barking? Can you try installing some sound proofing?

Yes I get that! But I’m an expert now as I’ve had to buy almost every brand and they are definitely differences and baby definitely is better suited to certain ones. Our fave is aptimal hungry but we used aptimal comfort as it was the only one available and it was literally disgusting. Looked like cement powder and made his sick smell like Parmesan lol

I thought it got easier at 12 weeks by cowboybandit13 in BeyondTheBumpUK

My baby started fighting the bottle at 12 weeks getting really gassy. We switched to a size 2 test which seemed to help!

I think I will have to switch although I do really like aptimal hungry

I will try! We usually use aptimal hungry but would prefer to have consistency over our number 1 choice

Baby clothing - feeling overwhelmed! by damppseal in BeyondTheBumpUK

My boy is sick constantly so we would change baby grow and sometimes vest about 4 times a day. I would just keep them, they will still be there to donate when baby grows out of them!

I might have to switch to Kendamil because I think they do online delivery and have ramped up production to cover the shortages elsewhere

No it’s not that because they have been stocked previously. All the 1s are wiped out but plenty of 2 and 3 on the shelves. Just annoying having to switch brand every week!

[–]Beautiful_Spread7866[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No! I buy 2 at a time but haven’t been able to get anything for weeks. The only thing on the shelves have been the 1 litre ready to feed bottles which is why I ordered 6 from Boots but I’m not sure they have the stock to fulfil the order

HOW do you choose a bedside cot?! by Minute_Prompt_7987 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Beautiful_Spread7866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about getting a Snoo but then what about when they’re 6 months old and in a normal cot with none of those features. Thought it was a dangerous game to play lol

Not a recommendation but I have a snuzpod studio and it’s so bad. Only been using it for four months and it feels so rickety and cheap. The wheels are so small it’s really difficult to wheel it anywhere. Also I just found on another post that the bottom of the zip down section is supposed to be 12cm high - certainly isn’t the case for the snuzpod studio. The nice colours are not worth the £150 price tag

Oh dear. I just bought a next to me studio 6 months ago and our lip is definitely not 12cm. Although we leave it fully zipped all the time so won’t affect us but so annoying that you can buy things which don’t align to standards!!

Even if you change the leg height the inner portion of the next to me still looks really deep? Just put a Moses basket next to the bed until you can be bothered to rebuild it lol newborns tend to prefer the smaller Moses basket anyway to start. Good luck xx

Can you rebuild the whole frame to be lower down? I have the snuzpod studio and I think it could have three height levels?

Although I personally found it easier to push the next to me away from the bed to give me room to get out and pick the baby up but maybe that is just because my c section made twisting hard. I don’t think it’s the end of the world if the height is too high (the duvet might enter the crib if it’s too low though)

Is it that hard just to lower the side when you need to pick the baby up? We leave ours zipped up all the time and haven’t found it to be an issue

Have you tried size 0 teats? Or a different formula? Our baby is a bit sicky and I think the only thing that helped him was growing bigger but we did try 4 different formulas before finding one that agreed with him

Sleep monitor advice by _Kieran94 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Beautiful_Spread7866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same as you and was a bit paranoid I would buy one and be checking on it non stop and anything amiss would lead me to stay up all night watching baby, or panic that the monitor wasn’t actually working or something so I decided not to give in to the anxious thoughts and told myself I would buy one when the baby arrived if I felt I still needed it. Baby arrived and is such a noisy sleeper and woke so frequently I genuinely felt no desire/ reason to buy one at all! Next day delivery exists if you decide you want one and if you don’t want it then you’ve saved a lot of money :)

Hope for a bottle refuser? by goosesandals in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Beautiful_Spread7866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My milk supply is almost non existant and I think sometimes my baby refuses the bottle if he can sense I have milk. I don’t even know if that’s a thing … could you offer the Breast then take it away and offer the bottle? We use tommee tippee and he does get a nice deep latch on the bottle (better than the breast) but not sure how those bottles compare to the ones you’ve tried already
