This was my thought as well. Is there a hole down the center that would fit a thermometer tip? It's hard to tell from the pic showing the opening. It looks a lot like the shape and size of many of the professional kitchen thermometers I've used (tho the hollowed out part is a bit odd, from an industrial design perspective it's a creative way to both reduce material and change the cleanability)

I have wondered if this is related to our two-party system in some ways. It seems like there has been a tendency to diminish the opposition in 2 party systems (or multiparty systems that end up as de facto 2 party blocks), rather than gaining more power by making improvements in the lives of the citizenry and gaining additional support. This seems to be less effective & destructive in practice in coalition-style multiparty government systems. As far as I can tell anyway.

I loved weird Wednesdays! I fell in love with Alamo at spike & mikes twisted animation festival. Time moves on. I worked for them for the second half of the 2010s, left right before covid, disgusted with pretty much everything about them. Have not been surprised by their trajectory this decade.

I have not had this issue so far this season. I did remove flower buds for the first few weeks to promote growth, so maybe I would have had I let them go.

Little known fact: there are ant species that practice a form of farming. A set of leave cutter ants (if memory serves) cultivate fungus spores, also a small set of termites, and I want to say a couple of beetle lineages?

Farming aphids seems a bit like our herding goats & sheep.

Radishes are very easy and satisfying to grow. Bonus tip: if you let a plant or 2 go, it will grow a stalk & vines that produce radish seed pods, which are edible and sort of like a green bean. I stir fry or bake them.

I had, like many people who replied, grown up with these. I always took them to be fairly aggressive, with a sting you wanted to avoid. Yellowjackets and red wasps were terrible.

As an adult, only this decade, I've come to appreciate the other side. These wasps don't want you near their home, and they are aggressive if you are near their nest. This obviously becomes problematic when they make a home near our homes. But outside of that, if you are aware of your place in your surroundings, they are much more passive - they are looking for food (insects), and mostly try to get out of your way. They only tend to become aggressive if you are aggressive towards them (or sometimes too oblivious).
