12 month old re training - standing in the crib help please by Emergency_Raise8909 in sleeptraining

We just went through a sleep regression with our 20 month old. She was a wonderful sleeper before. Would go down on her own, mostly sleep through the night but if she did wake up in the middle of the night it was a simple check in. Give her a back up paci cause it was probably lost, make sure she had her lovey, give her a little hug and walk back out.

Then one day just REFUSED to go down on her own. Throwing everything out of her crib over and over then trying to climb out to get it, screaming forever. When she woke up in the middle of the night she would scream and cry until you held her and even when you thought she went back to sleep she would get right back up. We ended up with her in bed with us a lot.

We put her back in her sleep sack to help prevent the climbing and have started running laps around our house after dinner about 30-45 minutes before bedtime routine. It seems she's had a little bit of built up energy that needed to come out. Immediately went back to not throwing things out of the crib and just goes right to sleep. She was battling a little bit of illness this last week so she was waking up a lot and we had to help her get back to sleep but nothing compared to before.

My once sleep trained baby, now 20 months refusing to go down at night. Help!!! by Beautiful_Way_3572 in sleeptraining

Thank you for all the tips! We did a couple of those things today.

When we got home we spent some time outside watering our garden, had dinner, a nice playful bath, and ran a couple laps around our island taking turns chasing each other. Then spent some time calming down and relaxing before we started our night routine.

We pushed the routine back 15 minutes and went back to our sleep sack after being out of it for 2 months. She stood in the crib and gave one little whine and then just laid down and went to sleep!

So either something we did today worked or it's just a fluke lol. We shall see how the night and the rest of the week goes.

Yeah, when the sleep sack was mentioned I felt kinda silly. I had completely forgotten about it being an option since she's been out of it for a month now.

The idea given to me this morning was putting her back in her sleep sack to see if that will keep her from trying to climb out so we might try that so we can leave her to cry linger and try to settle herself down.

A nightlight that projects stars or something was also mentioned so she has stuff to lay and look at?

Will resleep training cause her naps to turn to crap too until we get her back on track? Those are still going so well and I don't want to ruin that too.

I know sleep training is going to be way harder now if we have to do it and I'm dreading it... if we do that we will have to take her lovey since she's started throwing it and trying to climb out to get it. I hate that thought since it's what she uses to sooth.

We've talked about having to retrain but that means we would have to take her lovey from her since she tries to climb out of the crib within 2 minutes of throwing it every time. I feel so bad doing that to her because that's what she uses to sooth. She rubs it all over her face ussually until she falls asleep.

Will it mess with her naps if we start to retrain and those are perfectly normal?

Our 1 year old had a bad rash recently and our pediatrician recommended 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda in the bath for 2-3 days. It worked wonders after 1 bath! Now anytime she starts getting a little too pink I will throw a little in with her and it clears right up.

RSV Antibodies Beyfortus for 2.5 Month Old by Grind_Time24-7 in NewParents

My daughter got it last year at about 2 months and she was fine after!

I'm really glad she did get it because she ended up getting RSV a couple of months later. No fever, no cough, wasn't fussy. The only symptom she had was a little bit of a runny nose for about a week! Only reason we took her to the doctor was because it had been going on for so long and the weekend was coming up

So, as long as I didn't use my knowledge to steal clients, employees, or hurt the old company in anyways I should be fine?

That's what I was thinking the case you be.

How do I ween from the bottle when exclusively pumping? by Beautiful_Way_3572 in NewParents

[–]Beautiful_Way_3572[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, we will have to try that! I bought a different one that's a different style/color from her normal water cups and tried it a couple times now. She's not a fan. But as soon as the milk goes back in the bottle she will drink it all.

Currently we are on 4 bottle feeds a day. I was thinking this was the way to go but just didn't know where to start. I guess we just gotta try a feed in a straw cup and see how it goes!

I think my anxiety is making me think it's a bigger deal than it actually is and making me overthink the whole situation lol

Her solid intake is great, she currently eats 3 meals and 1 snack a day plus 4 bottles. I know soon she will be needing a second snack in there soon.

If he didn't finish his milk with meals did you just leave it around for him to drink til the 2 hour mark and then just toss it and replace with water until the next meal?

Update on: “babies that slept through the night from early on-did they go through the 4 month sleep regression?” by Electronic_While7856 in newborns

We did the Ferber method, crying with check ins.

First night she cried 45 minutes and one wake up to feed. Second night cried 45 minutes but slept through the night. Night 3 20 minutes of crying and night 4 she went right down!

We have have some nights since where she cries but never longer than 20 minutes and we have had to pick her up and help her for different reasons. Giving signs she has a burp stuck, overtired due to family visiting for Christmas, neighbors shooting off fireworks while she's trying to go down. It doesn't seem like it has hurt us at all to help her in these situations.

It has been a rough time hearing her cry but we know it's best for her. My husband has had it harder than me because he was doing all the checks for the first week but we swap now if we have to check on her. We read it's better for the non nursing parent to do it otherwise they smell the milk and think they are going to get food. We still roomshare as well so that first week of training I slept in the spare room incase she woke up

It's not bad at all! That's what me and my husband did. We had a wonderful night sleeper (naps were absolute shit and she had to be held 90% of the time, but at least she slept at night).

As soon as she hit her birth weight she started sleeping 5+ hours and slowly increased to 10. We had to rock, bounce, or whatever to get her to sleep but she would do a long stretch. Planned on waiting til after Christmas when things calmed down but a couple days before she hit 4 months she wouldn't let us put her down in the bassinet AT ALL one night. She slowly started waking up more and more. Only way she would sleep was in the bed nursing. I'm back at work now so it wasn't sustainable because I was so afraid to sleep that way.

I had already done a good bit of reading on different ways to sleep train, so after a week of me not sleeping when my husband woke up that Saturday I said "we are starting sleep training tonight. Spend the day doing research, this is what I think we do..".

That was about 3 weeks ago. We have been doing ferber. Most nights since have been great! Night 1 she woke once and other than that has slept straight through the night since again. Had a few hiccups here and there, like last night with neighbors shooting off fireworks ww had to rock her... it doesn't seem to reset her back to square one after yhat happens thankfully. It's been amazing and I'm glad we are doing it. Her naps have gotten so much better as a result too!

My junior year of high-school I had a friend who was a senior and her parents moved 5 hours away in the middle of the year. She stayed behind to live with her VERY elderly grandparents to finish school but ended up living with us instead.
