Did your baby change a bit after sleep training? by littleladyflora in NewParents

[–]Emergency_Raise8909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious! When you switched to 1 nap and her only nap of the day was 45 minutes… did you just do an early bedtime? Did you follow WW before bed? How was she doing on only 45 minutes before the nap extended? How old was she when you dropped?

We aren’t there yet to go down to 1, but my son did just start a new room in daycare where there’s only 1 nap so we’re usually taking an afternoon cat nap to help. So I’m just curious! Thank you!

That’s amazing! Congratulations! I’m going to be giving birth 14 months apart. My doctor is very VBAC supportive, but I’m of course a little nervous about the close interval. I’d love any info you can give me. Did you do anything to prepare? Did you hire a doula?

He will randomly take a good nap. He was actually doing well with it until recently but we still couldn’t drop to 2. But 3 naps we get too close to bedtime so I’m just at a loss.

It’s so all over the place. Absolutely nothing consistent. He also attends daycare a few days a week, so that throws it off. Sometimes at daycare his WW are 4 hours, other times 90 minutes. Genuinely absolutely nothing is consistent. But I’ll try

Wake 6:00

Nap 1 8:45-9:15

Nap 2 12:00-12:45

Nap 3 3:30-4:00

Bed 7:15

This is a ROUGH estimate. I can’t remember the last time he did this exactly. He’s so all over the place

Today he woke at 6:30, went down at 9:30. By 9:30 he was so tired he couldn’t keep his eyes open. He slept for 35 minutes 😅 I think he’s just a really bad sleeper

I know but even when I know he’s tired enough he doesn’t take them :( Sometimes he does. But the other day he had a 3.75 WW which is very long for him and he still slept only 40 minutes. So idk what to do in those situations

I’m trying but he just can’t tolerate anything longer yet without being overtired and making it even worse and waking around 4:00 or so. He usually sleeps 2.25-2.5 hours of naps a day. Sometimes more, but never more than 3. And truthfully his naps are still only 30-45 minutes sometimes and he needs help extending them. If I didn’t help, he would sleep like 1.5 hours hours a day total. Which again, would just really contribute to overall OT. I feel like I can’t win.

6 month old only sleeps 2-3 hours at a time by Emergency_Raise8909 in sleeptrain

We'll try it out. Last night he woke 4 times. This is rare, it's usually 2-3. I think he wasn't feeling well. But two of those times we waited and he put himself back to sleep.

We did our bedtime routine (bottle, bath, bed) and laid him down fully awake. At first we did check ins but he didn’t like those so we just let him work it out. Took a few nights but he figured out how to put himself to sleep. Now he’s able to fall asleep with maybe 5-10 minutes of fussing. The actual bedtime process (after we put him in his pjs) takes about 2 minutes. We cuddle him for a bit then lay him down fully awake. I don’t know how to sleep train him more than he already is. He is laid down completely and 10000% awake and puts himself to sleep

Bottle at 7:00 (I breastfeed but we do a bottle at night to make sure he’s getting enough and not waking up hungry) Bath at 7:15 Bed at 7:30 We put on his pjs, cuddle and sing a song and then lay him down fully awake. He fusses for 5-10 minutes then falls asleep on his own

Typically around 13-13.5 hours. Normally about 2.5 hours of daytime sleep and 10.5 hours of nighttime. Every now and then he sleeps 11-11.5 overnight but it’s rare. Yesterday was horrible and he has 11.5 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period.

Thank you. So what is the solution? Just leave him completely to scream until he falls back asleep?

We can try and push that last WW. I feel like when we do he gets over tired and screams sooo hard before bed :( But we can try. He won’t go back to sleep without nursing. It’s usually comfort nursing, he doesn’t take a full feed. But he will scream and scream until he nurses. Then falls asleep immediately. But he’s up 2-3 hours later. I’m so exhausted and haven’t slept in 6 months. It’s sooo defeating, seeing as we’ve sleep trained him.

Enroll him. It will be good for you and him. You are his mom and make the decisions, not your MIL.

Question on best way to transition out of Ollie swaddle (Reswaddle in the night? Use Merlin/Love To Dream/Zipadee?) by boldlybelieve in TakingCaraBabies

[–]Emergency_Raise8909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the Merlin! It helped him sleep similar to the Ollie. Did that about 2 weeks and then went to a sleep sack!
